Could you explain exactly how you set that up? I would love to be able to pop potions while not pausing the game.
I do this all the time-- I may be running around or fighting with controller in one hand and lean over to depress a hotkeyed curative/tool on my keyboard with my other hand This bypasses the inventory menu, so there's no break in the action.
Great for helping suspend disbelief for immersion, too.
This guy here says he has a way to use hotkeys WITH the controller itself... tho thats what I am getting from this post.
I would love to be able to do that if possible.
First, if you haven't setup your controller to work with Steam you will need to do that. So plug in your controller (Xbox One/360, PS4, or Switch Pro)
1. Go to Steam Settings
2. Go to Controller Tab
3. Click on General Controller Settings
4. Check the box next to PlayStation, Xbox, Switch Pro, or Generic Config Support
5. You should see your current controller detected.
If you have any trouble, a quick Google Search should yield a more in-depth guide on that. Now find the game in your Steam library, right click on it (with controller connected), and click on "Edit Steam Controller Configuration"
You should see your controller with the basic control layout. To setup the hotkeys:
1. Click on the D-Pad section
2. Click on "Mode Shifting" on the right side
3. Make sure Style of Input is "Directional Pad"
4. Click on the layout of the D-Pad and set each direction to 1-4
5. Set Mode Shift Button to "Right Trigger Pull" (Or whatever the equivalent in on other controllers).
Now when you hold right trigger the D-Pad will be set as 1-4. As long as you hold the "Mode Shift Button" your D-Pad will be 1-4. Hope this was helpful.
Thats cool, Not everyone wants to play that way tho.
I just pick my pawns up whenever they go down.
It's really cool to see my tip is still helping people. Great game, have fun!
I don't do that because it aggravates Nexus.
::shrug:: Unless I'm using the dragon patch from 3.0 WD, I don't fight there any more.
