Need confirmation regarding purifying magick archer weapon.
I need to have my main as magick archer and my pawn as any "yellow" vocation in order for me to have chance at a magick bow right?

No.
There is no difference what vocation You are. Only difference makes what color this vocation is.
Magicka Archer is yellow and blue.

Actually it's better to be both you and Pawn yellow vocation as Spellbows are in a yellow pool of items. With one as Blue/Yellow hybrid you'll be getting staves at times.

I switch between assassin and warrior, and my main pawn has been warrior since 10, and I've been getting like mostly mystic knight ♥♥♥♥ (blue). Go figure.

In loot table magicka shields and maces are not listed under blue color...
Go figure.

So red has the most crap in its table of all of them?
Great, I'll never get a compatible weapon that'll let me progress -_-

Mystic Knight weapons/armor belong to Red pool. It's not a crap just Vocation specific pool. You can find loot tables for purification at the wiki.

I'll just add that mixed color parties don't get fifty-fifty split when mass purifying and the list progresses every time you purify something so you can easily miss a valuable item that way. So it's best to be one color party, and if needed saving and changing color to check if you'd not miss some rare loot for other Vocation.

I figure these are melee combat weapons and thus belong to Red pool ;)
And staves belong to blue, and bows and daggers to Yellow.
Simple as that.
Now, why specific clothing pieces belong to certain color pools, that's beyond me :/

Many players do not switch to the Magic Archer vocation until they first build up a lot of magic attack pts as a sorcerer first. Probably due to the fact that post game monsters tend to have greater magic resistance than those in the early game. Just a thought.

1. Min/Maxing is pointless in Dragons Dogma. On max level You can faceroll over everything with x4 boosters.
2. I don't see a point to play other vocation over the one I want to play until I am X level or I get Y equipment.
3. Your thought has no meaning in purifing BBI lvl 3

If you're purifying bbi lvl 3 weapons, blue has the smallest pool of all.

Theres only one staff and one archistaff in that pool for pure blue vocations. Its also possible to pick up the mystic knight shield or magick archer bow from that pool for hybrid blue vocations.

For pure yellow vocations, theres daggers, bow, longbow. Its also possible to get the magick archer bow from here for hybrid vocations.

When I purify, I usually save before then check out the 3 possible results by switching main and pawn to warrior/warrior, ranger/ranger, or sorcerer/sorcerer.

You have got to remember purification results are fixed according to a randomly generated list made when you create your character. So you basically have to work your way down that list by purifying/checking each BBI Weapon you get.

Wait your current vocation affected what items you would get via purifying?

Well rip me, I purified hundreds of things and was wondering why I always kept getting the same things.

Basically yes. In detail: your current vocation affects the ratio at which you get items, from the three pools of items: red, yellow, blue.
If you and your Main Pawn are a mixed color party (say, Magick Archer and Warrior (ti yellow/blue and red) you get pretty random mix of items from three pools.

If you want 100% ratio for items of one certain color (lists are available at FANDOM wiki fi.) you will do that by purifying as this color (again, you and your Pawn).

BTW You get always the same items also because there are hardcoded lists of purification results. Your only bet against this is that at ceratin points of [some of] lists the results are "branching".
It's a drinding hell I suppose.

This is just an example and not an accurate list. Remember each BBI weapon you purify only has 3 possible outcomes.

You purify your first BBI Weapon lvl 3 as:

Warrior/Warrior or Fighter/Fighter you get Devil's Nail (Greathammer)
Ranger/Ranger or Strider/Strider you get Framae Blades (Daggers)
Sorceror/Sorceror or Mage/Mage you get Sanguine Stalk (Archistaff)
Mixed Color Class would still be one of these 3 results.

If you destroy or gift this BBI Weapon lvl 3 then the next one you try to purify would yield the same results.

In order to move down your characters internal list and possibly obtain different results you need to first purify this one and find another BBI Weapon lvl 3 to purify.

Note: Its possible to have the same list of 3 generated multiple times in a row so don't get discouraged.
