Make sure you're standing still and in a neutral stance - moving or running will prevent you from using inventory items.
so i do have to change vocation and equip a bow or longbow in order to use the maker's finger... strange indeed, all bows should be able to use arrows.
Actually magic bows attacks arent arrows, they're magic bolts, and magic archer's bow skills are just long range spells...
Although the inability to use specialized arrows might seem like a weakness, keep in mind - Magick Archers don't have to *carry* specialized arrows, either. The Magickal Bolt spells they fire at enemies have various unique properties, including the ability to inflict Archmagickal Debilitations. Even the most basic Magick Archer bolt, Threefold Bolt, is Ice element and can freeze enemies solid.
You will need to change vocation to either Strider, Ranger, or Assassin if you want to use the Maker's Finger.
Magick rusted bow dont afflict torpor trough skills, only the core skill can apply the debilitation, and it's way slower than with any other bow (which is why it's better to torpor with a rusted staff or a pair of rusted daggers for MA).
Because of their limitations magick archers also dont have access to the most usefull debilitations in the game : sleep and silence... (unless doing it with staves or daggers)
It is indeed a big weakness for any class that cant use special arrows. Only archmagick debilitation MA bow skills can pulll is burning with explosive rivets. Dont underestimate how amazingly usefull special arrows are, and I 'm not only talking about 3 to 10 - fold skills + blast arrows (aka kill death in a single shot at level 30).
Also while blast arrows and maker's finger are pretty heavy, most other special arrows weight almost nothing and you can carry hundreds of each types without issues.
That's probably why devs made pawns rarely use special arrows. Which is nice since you can make them carry your special arrows without risks that they will waste them, even if they use a bow themsevles (pawns love to waste throwblasts, dragon's spits and other attack items on weak or already dead ennemies...).
