Fournival guilty despite evidence?
I brought 5 pieces of evidence for his innocence and he was still judged guilty wtf! I guess justice works better than I thought in this world, but still, goodbye to a great merchant for this playthrough

I had a similiar one. I am pretty sure that I brought 6 pieces of evidence for his innocence. Still was found guilty. The only thing that I can think of was that I accidentily bought the wrong evidence from the merchant.

you know i have never had him found guilty yet..

while your receiving the quest Fdel is right there upstairs with a petition, you exit the gate and there is Simone with a petition, then the Priest nextdoors has apetition, then Fournivals house, caddy-corner to the temple has the Chamberlains affidavit, and if you previously did the supply and demand quest from windbluff tower the guard comes as a material witness.. it all right there at teh exit and a single ferrystone to hillfigure gnoll and a short jog to windbluff tower and ferrystoning back and turning it all in.

is one of the shortest easiest quests in the game really, if you do it right.

Not to mention you can buy forged affidavits from the wandering salesman (Reynard?).
They're quite expensive though, but if you're rolling in cash and really want to make sure you get the desired result they virtually gaurantee your result. I've yet to have a 'wrong' conviction.
yeah, and he is so critical when it comes to fighting the online UR Dragon..

but with the smoking carcass in the floor for the next 100 generations..

he is of no use to me right now.

Yeah I bought 3 innocence eviidence and gathered 2 or 3 other innocence evidences. I literaly didn't bring a single guilty evidence. Guess justice had its course this time around

Even with every item there's no guarantee of an innocent verdict although it's pretty unlucky. It happened to me too on my current playthrough which is a bit of a pain.

My fournival got locked, by surprise as well.

But i dont feel for him (Remember those peasants whom he threw out on the street, barefeet?)

I decided to make it a fair trial and gave all the evidence I had on both sides and a witness for each side. I think the guilty side had one more than the innocent side. He was found guilty. I didn't see any reason to try and stack it one way or the other. There was no personal gain from it, and you aren't really vested in this character. And the evidence on each side is flimsy and circumstantial so you don't really know if he was guilty of anything. I guess in this country he would have been found not guilty, but in medieval world all you need is a couple of fingers pointed at you and that's good enough for a guilty verdict lol.

Keeping him around is useful for acquiring certain items. It's been a while since I've played so the names might be a bit off but-
Maker's Finger arrow which one shots anything in the game (great vs Grigori on speed runs),
Pilgrims charms which are great for power levelling and cash farming,
The Golden Idol which I'm not 100% sure if it's available before this point but most people usually find the associated quest after this stage.

giving the gift ledger will make the case guilty as default unless you also bring chamberlains affidavit, if you happen to give both the affidavit and the gift ledger (assuming these are the only item you gave) the game will let rengeesus to decide the fate of fournival although i think it tends to be on the guilty side. so to make it a 100% sure just send in the petitions and the chamberlains affidavit.

The golden idol can be aquired, before even accepting the trial-quest, btw. The quest for it immadiatley becomes available after visiting the duke the first time. I don't know, if you must do the "land of opportunity", though.

yes you do have to do "land of opportunity" first to get the escort quest, and then you have to arrive at a time that he is there in or near hsi house with his daughter close at hand.

my last playthrough i finally got one of those "not right" endings.

guess were both back at it AGAIN..

maybe I'll go fight the dragon as a sorcerer this time, too bad i didn't level as a mage or sorcerer beyong unlocking vocational levels.

all i am missing from the dragon is the archstave and the staff now, not counting the stuff for the MK and the MA (which can't be put on pawns).

I almost don't need the quest page anymore to keep track of when to do what.
It appears that he is guilty again.

4 forged documents+Chamberlain's+Symone's+Jeffery's+Fedel's petition = guilty verdict

My mistake. He was innocent. I speeded through all of the dialogue and missed the verdict. Went to Fournivals manner and it was just Symone eating alone. Jumped to the conclussion that he was found guilty. :-(

F-Y'all's-I, the player cannot turn any guilty evidence in if you want him innocent, not one.

I usually turn in the three petitions (Symone, Fedel and Father Geffrey), the Chamberlain's Affidavit and grab the witness from the Stone of the North. To date, I've never seen a guilty verdict.

Hey, same thing occured with one of my play throughs. I think the problem was caused, by my turning in a copy of the gift ledger, to complete the quest; Trail of Curruption. Lesson learned!
