How do you kill Griffin's as a fighter?
The big ♥♥♥♥♥ just flies away after a few hits and my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ downie pawns magically forget all their fire spells every time one shows up. Do I just need to be high enough rank to one-shot them?

You talking about main quest griffin ? He is flying around sometimes but you are not supposed to kill him before "Griffin's Bane" quest.

Climb it and strike wings with fire enchanted sword. It will fall and you will be able to kill it. Sometimes it flies away, yes. If it does so, means you need more dps in your party.

Kill a few Oxen or goblins nearby. That'll sometimes bring it down to earth near enough for you to run and jump on it. Having a strider or ranger in your party will help as well.

If you're talking about scripted Griffin attack then no, you can't kill it. It's a setup, script won't let you. There will be similar script during Griffin's Bane quest too.

In any other situation, should you encounter him you can:
- lure him down with a shield drum skill or by killing oxen around.
- should he prepare to escape load your pawns and yourself on him
- attack head for a better dps
- setting him on fire, especially wings, works well too.

And no, you don't have to wait with killing him untill Griffin's Bane, I killed plenty of these around Gransys long before it, it's not a problem.

Just remember two, three things actually:
1. When his Health reaches critical level he will escape should you allow him to.
2. He'll also fly away if he'll catch a prey.
3. It tends to go back to his nest (wherever it is) after dusk.
In any of these occurences just leave and come back next day, but mind that he flies around Gransys so, he won't necessarily appear in the same place.

i always killed gryphons by stunlocking them when they are about to fly ways, i used the sword move which you swing in an arc from the ground and it hits alot of times, using that on the beak made it stagger just before flying away, make sure not to spam it and only use it when he prepares to fly off
I actually kill the griffin before he flyes away to Bluemoon tower... i missed the third star for that :(, also i locked up a path of the tower you usually go with the guards in the Griffin quest. The treasure is still there btw, you can access to it by the path you use to escape when Griffin quest is done right.

You can do that if you level up enough... But i do not recomend that.. just hit him a few times a let him scape to his nest.

And if you play with a warrior (knight also) go along with a strider or ranger pawn so they can throw arrows to the griffin to make him land.

Ah, aright. I guess the first one I encountered was the scripted encounter after you leave the capital the first time. Seems like he just runs away no matter what. I ran into a second one near the cave where you meet the dragonforged and managed to kill it after a few tries using the fire method.

Sure you can equip blast arrows and just melt that griffin in 10 seconds as 40 lvl ranger for example. But no fun in that.
