Salomet's Grimoire (spoilers fine)
If I give Steffan the forged Grimoire, will his getting mad at me after the Griffin fight prevent me from doing his escort quest later in the game? I'd like to give him a forgery and fight the battle all by myself, but I'd like even more to 100% the sidequests.

You can always boost his affinity for you by giving him large/giant fish so I wouldn't worry about p1ssing him off too much.

but whats the point? it is a useless item..

It’s hardly useless. It will cast Bolide if the book is read.

There is no wrong path in the sense that TC can either give the tome to Stefan, or not, with impunity. There’s alternative dialogue for Stefan towards the end of the quest depending on which one happened.

If you don’t want Stefan’s help, then keep the tome and give him a forgery.

So I can still get his escort quest, even if he thinks the book is a forgery? Thanks, I'll Fake News him then.

Yes, you can-- it just might take a little work at gifting him presents afterwards to get him to like you enough for an escort quest.

Personally, I don't do escort quests because I don't want all of Gransys to like me that much. It's more difficult to manipulate who becomes one's beloved then. IMO, the only reason to do an escort quest is if you DO want that person to like you a lot, and/or you want the specific item from the escort quest's reward.

Ser Berne's greatsword, Griffic Victory, and Clarus' archistave, Keen Dragon's Wit, are just about the only things I want from those quests.

Fair enough, I'd agree that escort quests are a chore. They're needed for the 100% Sidequest achievement, though right?

Negative. The Laborer achievement requires 50 notice board quests and The Hero achievement requires you to do all the regular sidequests. Some of those are easy to miss but thats what NG+ is for.

and NG+ 2+ for us potheads.

i almost always forget at least one.

I am getting ready to do another run but this time i have to swap out pawns to get them knowledge they missed in their first run, like observing the boulder in dripstone cave before it is removed, etc.
