Save Editor?
I havnt played in a while and plan to make a new character in hard mode. I want to start myself off with a bit more money and slightly better than bare basic gear, just to get off my feet a bit easier

Anyone know of one?

dinput8.dll has a lot of functionality of which being able to respec your character as well as give yourself RC, Gold, Discipline pts, etc. Money is really not an issue in Hard Mode since most basic enemies like goblins will crap out 10K gold left and right.

After a few hours in Hard mode, it is subjectively easier than normal due to the money drops as well as the faster leveling.

Hm, is that so. Well i may not need to use an editor at all then lol

Yes, dinput8.dll is a lot more versatile and easier to use than a save editor; adding items may be tricky, you don't really add them but you actually change an already existing item into what you desire. I guess just be careful not to create an armor in the curative category by manipulating a carrot or something like that, not sure if it's harmful in the long run, but sure makes it weird to handle items out of their category.

Decided ill use it after all, as it seems like i cant start a brand new account in hard mode (i have world difficulty anyways). Gunna chage my base equipment to stuff that isnt the bottom of the barrel and get some RC since its a pain to grind

How does it work?

Alright so i figured out most of it, but two things:

Changing my rusted sword to a trusty sword changed its stats and icon, but not its ingame model? Same when i changed my shield

Also is it possible to straight up change the stats of equipment?
One of the key things for dinput8 is that you can set up an auto back-up for your saves. Since the game relies on one save with a backup being a checkpoint save, people have lost there whole game when the checkpoint save corrupts. If you think that a Steam cloud save would work to replace the corrupted save, you would be wrong since the corrupted save will overwrite the Steam Cloud save too.

It just takes about 5 minutes to set it up but can save your 100+ hours if you lose everything.

About the item editor, in order for the item to change to you have to first transfer it to another character's inventory or put it storage then withdraw it, otherwise it won't change proprely

Why bother yourself with messing with saves? All this fuss:
1. You can buy a Trusty Sword. And you do can afford it. If not just run around the village and gather some loot. You can double the starting money, at worst.

2. And you can earn a lot. Just slay some minions or even better, get to some Saurians and sever their tails, repeatedly (just leave and go back for more). Easy money.

BTW If you'd make a bit of effort and run (preferably at night) to Southron, Bloodwater Beach, you can get yourself this "slightly better than bare basic gear". Not like it matters as the HM adds a little something to all blows received so even stupid bats will murder you in seconds, so you have to level up fast rather than focus on gear. Whatever.

I mean, c'mon, wasn't the Hard Mode suppose to be all about huge gold drops and lightning fast leveling?

Just download a save on Nexus. There's one with a level 1 character, but with a bank filled with 100 units of every single items avaiable in the game. Just use what you like from it.

I ended up giving myself an undilant gold, since it has low base damage but is still better than some others. Also got a prosecutor and tormentor mask mostly for looks

Always use it to get myself the dark legging....only piece of gear I can never find in BBi for some reason and I need it to complete the look of my strider....

Dark leggings? Like Dark Overknee boots? Or Chaos Greaves

Iv been using the thing to allow me and my pawn to equip anything, and iv mostly been using it to equip armor for both fashion and practical reasons. I usually run assassin and i really like the warrior armor, especially the Chaos set

It would be really cool if there was a tool that allowed me to edit the stats of things though. That way i can copy the stats of good armor onto the stats of fashionable armor and get the best of both worlds

No just the clothes legging you see in the picture. There's two version, a brown one which is pretty common and that you can find early on, and that dark one (difference is mostly the pants which is white and the brown legging, looks like underwear rather than clothings, and black on the dark legging which look more like clothings).

Ah yeah, always wanted a reskin option for armors.... especially level 2-3 bbi ones, hate the look of the one for yellow classes...
