Report a translation problem
Just leave him in the rift while you level up your arisen to the level you want to bring your pawn for that class.
Then bring your pawn along until his level match yours, fighting low level ennemies that wont make you level up (also a good way to get vocation points for yourself).
And finally change his class to the next class you want him to get the stat growth next. Rince and repeat...
Works particularly well when playing assassin.
That said, I usually prefer to keep my pawn on a single class from level 10 to 200... so it's either mage>sorcerer or fighter>ranger (warrior gives more attack, but way too much HPs and not enough stamina).
