Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen

Realization: Daimon awakened form is reminiscent of Ghouls and Ghosts / Goblins end bosses and...
and Holy Focus Bolt is probably OP on purpose to be brutally effective against him since it's similar to the attack Arthur does when he brings Guinevere's (Prin-Prin) bracelet to acess the true final boss, supposedly the only thing that can defeat it.

Also kinda looks like it doesnt it? https://i.ytimg.com/vi/mPzRM1fCNxs/hqdefault.jpg

heh, kinda :P edit: (I mean the HFB reminding of the bracelet attack... it's got... balls and stuff >.< )

Guh~hey~hey~♫ Nov 11, 2019 @ 5:21pm
Holy focus bolt is just broken on almost everything except sirens, arch hydras, elder ogre, Grigori and the few other ennemies highly resistant to holy damages....

Daimon has a pair of wings true.... but it doesnt looks like an overgrown pixelated bird at all to me... he look more like the former japan's prime minister, Mori... :3
Oh no, that was to illustrate the bracelet attack, the bosses I mean all have stomach mouths

for example https://youtu.be/PppIaYfq_Mw?t=306

starts with miniboss at 5:00 , followed by fake final boss and then true final boss that is only reached when you defeat the fake one using the bracelet as your weapon

It's a capcom game, Daimon also quotes Castlevania's Dracula (albeit that's from Konami but it takes tons of inspiration and makes references to lot's of different stuff) and I had a strange vibe about ghouls of ghosts ever since I took a certain screenshot of a griffin fight that reminded me of that stupid bird boss on the screenshot lol.

Well, there is another weird similarity between the two games in that they both have to do with cycles of repetition and breaking those cycles. In Super Ghouls and Ghosts/Goblins, you have to repeat the entire game after defeating the fake final boss, and until you do that, it doesn't allow you break the cycle, which is done by defeating the true final boss. In DD:DA, you're giving a choice by the Dragon, and your decision results in whether the cycle repeats itself or is broken.

Totally!

"Wither nooow, my controler my flame, bring forth bracelet to end cycle of eternal return!" x´D

Doubtful anyone reading this would have not finished the game, but just in case since we were vague up until now:

SPOILER ALERT

Our character also breaks the cycle upon reaching the true end... or at least they would think (or not, could just be bored out of their minds and spare next in line and all the 'empty' husks that are npc, monster and animal, letting it just wither into an uninstall lmao)
But then your pawn becomes an unwitting substitute for you lol

Going a bit meta just like the game now and full on wishful conjecture: but maybe that's a way of... tweaking the cycle... the pawns are kind of like an artifice inside an artifice. Like bots creating bots, advanced A.I lol.

Your pawn could very well become a guiding beacon to pawns from other worlds. Teaching them to replace their master when one that makes the same choice presents themselves, preserving their respective world.
Our pawn, the most sucessful bestowal of spirit the story presented us, literally incarnating what our character was, and thus, honoring the memory of their creator by being a truer, freer version of either, guided only by post credits plot conjecture x´D

Your pawn in really baggy robes spreading wisdom:

"Arisen... our creators. They are weak to both repetition and pain of loss, fellow pawns. STRIKE THEM NOW WITH - *cough* - sorry, force of habit.
In these cold harsh worlds of endless repetition, we are the only ones capable of maintaining the cycle of eternal return while breaking the cycle of pain.

Once the bestowal of spirit is complete, we are tempered to the task of maintaining the will of the world. Our own wills like the ever returning tides, just like all the world's cycles, but unlike our creators' wills that were guided by invisible forces.

We are capable of this not because we are driven, but because we are INCLINED to"

Player:
"Dang it... my pawn is acting all weird. Gonna try making it chug 11-10-4 elixir combo again."

You'll find both games are heavily inspired by things like the Bosch triptych and Codex Gigas.

Ah! Thank you very much for the delicious trivia contribution and these connections! Haven't seen "The Garden of Earthly Delights" since 7th or 8th grade, forgot it's existance

Game just keeps acumulating value in my eye ^_^
