Innocent Man bug?

Soo, I did Google this quite extensively, but it appears as if I'm the first/only person to come across this. I randomly ran into some kid that told me his dad was lost, and because I just didn't have anything better to do, I agreed. Come to find out he's in the jail, no problemo.
I always carry at least 5 skeleton keys on me, so I figured this should be cut and dry.
I busted him out, but the guard wouldn't move and I figured maybe the AI was ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and I'd just zip past him. Nope, the prisoner gets caught instantly, and the dungeon resets. He's not in his cage any more, and the quest marker is telling me to go through the other cage that has the passage that goes outside, done. I even found a golden egg from the snakes, score. Gonna make golden omelettes.
Anyways, I run into that one Lord's daughter, and she randomly offers to pay off his debt if I give her 100,000 bitcoins, which I agree to, but now the quest seems broken. I follow the quest marker in circles, it just keeps telling me to go back to the secret passage through the cage...
Anyone had this happen? Got any suggestions? Is this playthrough gonna have to just give up on this one?

It's not a game breaker but sadly...you are out of luck on completing this one on this playthrough. I don't know if it comes back up in NG+ or not. It is also possible for you to switch to hard mode (or if you are already in Hard mode go to normal or easy and then go back into hard). You'll keep all your stuff, exp, money, gear, weapons, skills etc.. but it will put you back to the very beginning of the game and you'll have an opportunity to complete all the missions (incl side missions you might have missed) again.

I'm already on hard mode lol... blech, I hope it doesn't happen again on NG+
