MK Build tips
Started 15 Strider, then switched to assassin up to lvl 30, I was thinking of switching to the MK class for the rest of the game and I do plan on using the cannons but not as my main skill. So the question is, will I be having a hard time in BBI for not playing any mage class at all if I were to reach lvl 50 MK?

PS: Mages are cool and all but im just not fond of the whole robe and staff playstyle lol

I wouldn't worry too much about getting the perfect build in DDA, weapons and armour are more important and Augments can have a big effect too. Personally I think MK is more effective when you get to higher levels. At lvl 50 BBI will probably be tough but it's doable and you can always hire some high level friend's pawns to help you.

However as a hybrid I'd suggest trying to build both Magick and Physical attack. Mk's most effective combat skills are probably Perfect blocks, Great Cannon and Ruinous Sigil. Full moon slash is useful too. You'll want a decent magick attack for the Cannon and Sigil.

- Doing perfect blocks (especially when you buff your shield with a "Riposte" spell)l. You'll also want as a good a shield as you can get. You may want to preactise the timing for perfect blocks on gobin or bandit mobs. The fighter Augment "Prescience" can help here too. Also every beast has a tell before they attack so with experience you'll start to spot these.

- Here are a few augments you may find helpful: Clout and/or Vehemence to increase your physical attack, Acuity and/or Attunement to increase your magick attack, Bastion to reduce physical damage, ferocity to increase core skillls, Sinew to increase encumbrance limits. Articulacy will reduce casting times (as will the Wyrmking's ring if you have that yet.)

- If going into BBI you may want to stock up on throwblasts too at low level. And carry a rusted weapon to torpor enemies and slow them down.

Hope that's helpful.

I have an awesome physical damage MK myself.
for augments, I do use Emphasis and also Perpetuation.

I basically use great cannon to ground stuff and then i pound it.

thats what you mean, a ground and pound MK, uses magic but not main focus.
uses magic to drop so you can put a real hurting on it.

i suggest a few levels as most each class really, focussing on red and yellow, and enough to get your vocation levels in blue classes to unlock stuff to use (augments and core skills).

at 50 it will be hard, but if your good you will get through it.

Thanks a lot guys, I really appreciate the time taken to help me with my MK. So looks like I am going to have to roll a mage/sorc after all. Well in that case, since I did mention I do plan on using the cannons, what is the minimum level I need to play as a mage to make them effective? I've seen people say from lvl100 to lvl 200 but I think that might be a little excessive, I mean I want some good stats for magic but geesh.

but you see, you don't have to aquire many levels in those classes to get the augments, kill the smaller stuff, run through goblins and direwolves especially for the vocational levels, as soon as you get voc 9 switch. If your cautious you can do it in a handful of levels, maybe 3 each or so.

if you steal the ring of preserveance from BBI it will go faster also.

those 2 augments really do help immensily though.
