Where is the save file??
really getting tired of trying to find where the save files are for these games, they should always just be in Documents. But nope dev gotta play games and hide the files. Already had to mess with the settings to find hidden files to locate my Dark souls 3 save Since i lost everything because i was stupid enough to assume that every game saves on the steam cloud. I really wanna back my saves on this game so can someone plz tell me where there are? Gamefaqs discussion said it was C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Steam\CODEX\367500\remote but after i get to \Roaming theres no steam file there...

[your Steam's installation drive letter]:\Steam\userdata\14378642\367500\remote
File's name is 'DDDA.sav' - you can search for this if the path will happen to be invalid.

The "14378642" is going to be different for each person, just so y'all know. It's a unique number for each Steam account. Basically, check your userdata directory, if there are two folders in there, open both, you're looking for the 367500 folder.

Beyond that, yeah, you want the DDDA.sav file, which will be in \367500\remote

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\37418899\367500\remote" for me

This thread is of public utility. I need to have a backup of my save in case I do something that causes me to fail a quest or those kinds of mistake.

first number is your steam3 "id" its unique for everyone
its not the community id or the steam id
they all unique and different
that makes i possible to have multiple accounts use these folders for the same games without conflicts.

is it possible to recover a save before the auto-save game? I am in the part where you have to decide to become a seneschal or stay in island . I want to load before that, when I was able to give the wakestone to the npc in everfall, so I can make the others questlines and bitterblack isle bosses. Or I have to make a new game plus?

Word of advice, turn off Steam cloud save and back up your save game.
Else you risk a corrupted save file and hundreds of hours lost in an instant...

Amen to that. I never use cloud saves (few temp exceptions), annoying as hell, when I had to enable it for DD2 character creation import to work, plus in steam it started uploading all of my game save files without my permission, and no option to only use it for 1 game at a time, just disable one by one or disable/enable all.

Yeah the save system is complete arse... I learnt it the hard way when my game corrupted back in 2020, playing again turning off Cloud and backing up every so often really helps especially if you mess up and want to go back on yourself.

Devs are so dumb. What's the point of hiding save files anyway?
