how necessary are sidequests
pondering on getting this game and from what i've read the combat is superb but the story and sidequests are jarring so i'd rather not pick herbs for 3 hours or help grandma generic with the 10th pack of goblins in a row.

so how needed are sidequests in this game exactly, or rather, will the game become too difficult because i lack xp or materials because i skip alot of this? and is there much of a game left at all if i do this?

The side quests are usually to raise affinity with people, and some easy xp and money. Not doing them isnt a massive drawback but I would recommend doing them just the ones in the Inn not the Alehouse. The only difficult part would be if you have Dark Arisen and rush in.

Pretty much everything the first responce said but he missed one important thing. Sind quests given by NPC are extensions of the main story and can be missed or lost if you progress the main story too far. For this reason, all quests taken from a notice board are not "side quests" but "notice board quests." Those notice board quests cannot be lost in the same way as side quests by continuing the main story. There are a very few escort quests that can be missed in that way but they are extremely few and not all that important (but 2 of them that are the easiest to miss do give one of a kind equipment rewards that are fairly good).
thanks for the infos guys, much apprechiated :)
