Edit: He should be found guilty if you do nothing. I don't know any benefits you get by not getting him acquitted, though.
How far is Ser Castor. As far as im aware i have to escort him from somewhere to main city.
The notice board quests have no influence or bearing on the trial itself.
You can always do the escort quest first, but yeah, he's somewhat useful so not guilty seems like a universally better solution for the player.
