Not choosing a class.... Effects?
So I've only played past the intro and I'm gonna call it a night, pick it back up tomorrow, but I was wondering - If you leave the first room without choosing a class, will that have much of an effect?

Are classes basically like Dark Souls, where it affects initial gear/stats and then is irrelevant, or will this have longer lasting effects than just running around bare-handed until I can find a weapon?

nope, the game is based on the vocations/class system and you are forced to pick a class

Yeah but you can change your class ata anytime, you just start at level one again?

"But thou must!"

I tried that. Grigori asked me to choose three times, and then I was assigned Fighter.

Once you reach Gran Soren, you can pay a small 1-time fee, per vocation, to change to it. I believe it was 1000 for the Basic vocations you did not start as, 1500 for the Advanced, and 1500 for the Hybrid?

Once you have been in a vocation before, changing to it is free.

Level is Character based, not Vocation based. Vocations have ranks that control what abilities from them you can access however.

Yeah you can actually get out of the room without choosing anything, but you become a fighter and you don't get any equipment and it doesn't affect the plot in any way.

Nobody really answered your second question. Vocations effect almost everything about your character. Starting stats, stat gaints per level , learnable skills, equippable skills, equippable weapons, and equippable armor.

ummm.... no. just, no. You don't seem to understand anything about the leveling system other than vocation's having ranks. Stat gains are entierly determined by the vocation you are when you level-up. Vocations also level up based on the amount of disaplin points the player has earned why playing that vocation. Disaplin points (DP) is earned by some formula that calculated off of the total exp you earn (with DP earned becoming less as you earn more Exp). Your DP will be more on par with your Exp earned when killing monsters that give low amounts of exp (around 100 exp per kill). Large exp pay outs don't yield much DP due to the sharp drop off in the DP to Exp curve.

Thanks for the input. I hadn't realized that it auto-selected Fighter for me after leaving the room without choosing.
