all of the flavour npcs are cleared out for this quest. so you can cheat with an area effect spell.
i personally got him on my 2nd play thorugh with stone forest on my MK.
i just timed it for when he was running into the crossroads area. he follows a pattern.
Did you attempt to catch him again, catch him and the game didn't register a catch more than once? That isn't clear from the information you've given. The quest will let you try again for as long as it takes to catch Pike since it's intended to teach the player about grappling.
I did.
I'm just saying try again using a different tactic.
If you belive it is a repeatable technical issue you should just post on that forum.
Definately a bug
Did you try resting for 7 days to reset some stuff
I dunno.
Since the quest doesn't update correctly after you catch him, have you tried verifying your game files through Steam? Sometimes that needs to be done more than once, from what I've read when that's been used to fix other minor file corruptions.
Pablo's default dialog always has the quest line as the uppermost response if you return to him after "The Thief Escaped," which allows you to repeat the catch. He is supposed to be offering his regular services in dialog located underneath the line related to the quest. You're saying that's missing?
