Ranger Skills
Hey you guys.

I would like to know what skills you use as Ranger.

list daggers if you please but in all honesty its not necessary as i doubt a ranger need any "optimal" dagger skills when he is to avoid useing them in the first place right?

This is my first playthrough, currently lvl 45 and i've kill the Griffin in the quest Griffin's Bane.
On this fight i used the following bow skills.

Tenfold arrow
this is pretty much a meta skill as far as i feel. Crazy dmg from it.

Deathly arrow
i like this skill alot, it sometimes goes in to a "Slow-motion" type of curscene and one shots stuff

Spiral arrow.
This skill is interesting at times, it sort of looks like an AOE type of skill as when i shot it correctly and enemies are standing 2-3--4 in line it can pretty much kill them all as it passes through them.
But mostly i find it to only hit a few time before it passes through the enemy. Maybe i need some practice in how to time it correctly.

What do you guys use as Ranger, and why do you use it ?

Tenfold, Deathly Arrow, Great Gamble, Comet Shot for long range sniping, Endecad for a short range shotgun blast. I switch out skills depending on what I’m hunting and/or where I’m going.

I rarely use my daggers, but that’s me. Instant Reset is what I equip them for, I use it constantly to cancel animations such as Dodge Roll.

Karathrax has pretty much covered it for skills though I'd get Hundred daggers in case you climb any monsters.

Also think about useful Augments. The ranger ones of Trajectory and precision are good but other Augments I'd recommend are: Sinew, Impact, Clout and/or Vehemence, Ferocity & Bastion.

I'd also recommend carrying a rusted longbow as well as your main one to torpor beasts whcih makes many fights much easier.

Hope that's helpful.

Don't forget the Stability augment Rangers have. It's great for not getting knocked back or knocked down by dragons/wyrms/anything that does a knockdown/interrupt based on beating its wings.

I'm a big fan of Crippling Arrow for the big baddies, especially after arriving in BBI. I always open with this and follow with tenfold for a couple reasons: A) it increases the chance for staggers so it's helpful for downing dragons, interrupting Daimon's rift, stopping eliminators in their charges (or launching them), and staggering Death to death. B) It helps my ranger pawn decide where to shoot. Since he's utilitarian, he'll take advantage of debuffs, so I can kind of point him in which direction I want him to aim with this. I find he climbs a lot less and actually shoots stuff more this way as well. C) Since I'm always opening with a utilitarian skill, it keeps my pawn's utilitarian inclination up at the top. I hear a lot of people say that they struggle maintaining this inclination, but it's never been a problem for me.

Crippling Arrow may not be that useful until BBI and even Hardmode though since staggering isn't as difficult in Gransys and is unnecessary on normal mobs. A sniping skill would probably be more useful in the early levels.

I also love cutting wind + instant reset for moving around when I'm in a hurry. It'll eat up your stamina, but it's a whole lot faster than running. It will help you get behind enemies' defences too. Hundred Kisses is also nice to have on hand in case you need to climb onto something to kill quickly before it escapes--wyverns or griffins for instance. On most dragons, I'll just use my bow, but on firedrakes, I do tend to find that the fight goes smoother if I climb to the heart and use Hundred Kisses.

I like Spelunker's augment list too, but may I add a couple warnings? I was told that Impact doesn't affect bows unfortnately (that made me sad!). And remember that after a point, distance decreases damage, so just take that into consideration if you plan on using Trajectory (don't give it to a pawn anyway since they don't know how to snipe).

I hope you have fun being a ranger! It's definitely my favorite class.
