Possessed pawns
I was always under the impression that possessed pawns were really bad and they could absolutely wreck your arisen. I've had numerous pawns get possessed and I can't remember an instance where they hardly more than scratched me. I was doing a little testing on my pawn. He has a Gold Forged Devils nail. I just stand in front of him and he does either no damage or maybe 1 damage. He can stagger me, but that is about it. Is it bugged or is it just my pawn? I captured a little on video so you can see what I mean.

It looks like the female pawn can damage me. I think she is the one that hits me with the lightning at the end. She doesn't have a very good staff and is low level, so it wouldn't do much damage anyways.

Of course, while the possessed pawn is attempting to damage you, it's not damaging your foe now is it?

No, its not. My arisens do 90% of the damage though. The part that I do like about pawns that are subject to possession is that the wyrm, drake, or wyvern will hold still for a fairly long time while they are trying to possess. Long enough for me to get off a High Glycil or some other spell of a similiar cast length. If the pawn is a 100% resistant, they usually get thrown to the ground immediately when grabbed.

I've noticed it too. A fighter pawn I rented got possessed and when she hit me I was surprised to see that i took next to no damage. I'm not sure if it's a bug or a change to the game though. Checking the wiki's comments on the possession page has people talking like a possessed pawn is even *stronger* than normal, but those comments are from several years ago. It's been too long since I've played base Dragon's Dogma to remember what it was like.

On the XBOX they could definitely 1 shot you easily. They may have toned it down of course.
I'm right around level 100 here. He has a strength of 3275 and my physical defense is 375. He should be able to one shot me with a light attack should he not. I'm playing on Normal mode right now.

yeah, wouldn't be fun man.

theres a reason all of my pawns are 100% possession proof.

even when they are possession proof the dragons will still try to possess them, giving you freetime to attack, but at least if you don't kill it before he sets it down you don't have to contend with him as well as the dragon.

I personally like GG on my ranger, but most players don't have mushroom potage at their whim so i usually have him set to dire arrow instead, but if he were set to GG and possessed it woudl be the fastest death that a pawn could hand you i do beleive, at least a warrior has to run to get at you, unlike an archer or magic using pawn.

a low level mage with blind and not possession-proof can get you wiped out real quick.

it is all really situationally dependant.

possession proof is a great thing to look at on pawns you hire.
99% resistant doesn't cut it though, may as well be 0%.

I think you misunderstood. Check out the video in the OP. That pawn with 3000 more strength than their defense is wailing on them for 15 seconds straight, and deals a total of about 7 damage. Don't need possession proof if the pawns can't even hurt you. :conwayshrug:

That's weird. It does look a bit like a glitch to me. Kuma has definitely one-shot me on multiple occasions.

good use of augments though.
but notice the low level mage staggered him.

that's why i think it is the augments in play.

This is basically what I have. I have gone up at least 2 levels and changed the gear on my arisen. I also was doing some DFing for a mage pawn, hence the change in vocation. Didn't change any augments or rings.

I thought it might have something to do with dinputs8.hks I disabled that and it is still the same thing. He does eithr no damage or does 1 hp damage. Staggers a bit. That's about it.

but it isn't about the stats on the warrior or the mage, it is about the arisens stats, he is the one that is being attacked.

what augments do you have on the arisen?

good that it is working for you like that though.

That top picture is my arisen(Greadie) with her augments.

Her stagger and knockdown resistances should be in around 20-30%. Just DFing gear for Fashion.

wow, that is really good for gravitas, thats what is causing part of it.

something odd is happening on your end.
it isn't like that for everyone.

is a good thing for now though.

I can't think of a single reason why Jiop should be doing zero damage. Is it consistantly? Is it only when he's possessed?

I can't play right now, but maybe you can get someone to take him out and test if he's doing the same thing on their end. If not, I can take him out tonight.

I have heard multiple stories about dinput screwing up pawn behavior. But this is the first I've heard of zero damage.

I think she has to be casting for Gravitas. Its not like she doesn't take damage. She takes plenty of damage from everything else. Its just her pawn that can't hurt her.

He wrecks everything else. I disabled it and it he still could not hurt her. It appears that the rented mage was able to inflict damage though.

more than casting spells causes it actually, for example, if you take a magic archer and use lets say Grand Scension, your still casting, though you have a weapon in your hand.

not sure about other classes but I know the magic archer is treated that way, and the wyrmkings ring speeds up using abilities like that as well.

I usually put one on each pawn i rent, god knows i have a stack of them, funniest part about them is that when you give one away you can rebuy it from the black cat.

I was wondering if Wyrmking's Ring worked on MA abilities. Never actually tried it. I rarely get that far in the story, mostly I like doing BBI.
