Bugles, don't worry about this too much, you can find them all over Gransys, but there are a ton in chests on the walls Gran Soren. There is also a quest called Final Farewell (I think that's the name) that will give you 40 upon completion.
Edit: Final Farewell is a notice board quest you can find in the Encampment (wooden structure you head to near the beginning) after you clear the quarry of monsters. It requires you to kill 15 undead warriors, it says they need to be around the Ancient Quarry, but I believe it doesn't matter their location. Here's the wiki page: http://dragonsdogma.wikia.com/wiki/Final_Farewell
Snake skin purse, ♥♥♥♥ this thing. This has to be found, mostly at random, from a gathering spot. There are several areas that have the potential to give it, but the one I usually go to for this is located just in the water in the area I've circled with red on this map of Gransys: http://imgur.com/a/wSBsk
Hope this answers the questions, if you need to know anything else feel free to ask.
Specific item recovery quests, you can check them again every now and then and see if you have the items in bank. If not, ignore, unless you really want that quest reward.
Ignore escort quests, except Madelaine and Quina, maybe.
More important quests are handled by people. Those you should probably work toward. Some are story related, but some aren't (although they might tie-in).
There are a few specific, time-sensitive or whatnot quests which are also unique and only available at one point or another along your main quest. Past a certain point, said quests might dissapear or 'fail.'
P.S. I'm thinking you're trying to get to another place than the The Ruins of Aernst Castle used by bandits. The Shadow Fort is most probably your real destination, if you have a quest there that you've gotten from elsewhere.
