Does simple Exequy work on bandits? I think it worked, but I'm not sure.
I was disappointed by this as well, as it seems to be such a cool spell. I use this mod:
http://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma/mods/255/?
which speeds up Exequy 3x, and High Exequy 4x. It doesn't seem to make it overpowered either, as tougher enemies still take long enough that just staying on your feet to channel the spell can be a challenge in the more intense fights, and you still need to keep the circle on quick moving enemies. In my opinion this is about where the spell should be, so I'd definitely recommend it.
Thank you, but I think that a spell which can't be used on humans, bosses, undead (they seem highly resistant and take almost as much time to finish as bosses) hardly deserves one slot out of only six.
It can be used on anyone but humans. The time High Exequy takes to complete is based on two things:
1. Your magic stat
2. The enemy's dark defense stat
Undead have high dark defense (being vulnerable instead to holy and fire), so High Exequy takes an even longer amount of time on them. However, beyond humans, Grigori, and the Ur-Dragon, I believe High Exequy can kill everything else (including golems, even though they're completely resistant to magic, making it a valuable spell against metal golems who are almost impossible to kill if you're playing a magic class). Additionally, you don't have to be able to see the enemy to trigger the spell on them, so I often used it to check down hallways and rooms in BBI to see if there were any enemies waiting to ambush me. After installing the mod, I ended up using it to farm a specific BBI boss with relative ease (minus getting knocked down constantly).
It's a bit slow too really be USEFUL, which is why I recommended the mod, but it can be used in creative ways to save you some pain.
