Cannot run the game at a steady fps Gtx 1070
I'm having a bit of an issue when getting back into DDDA. In the main menu maxed settings I get around 55fps, but in game I get from 35-55 fps. Changing settings hasn't made any difference. I've updated everything and the issue persists.

My specs are:
GPU:MSI GeForce GTX 1070 DirectX 12 GTX 1070 GAMING Z 8G 8GB
CPU:Intel Core i7-6700K 8M Skylake Quad-Core 4.0 GHz
Motherboard:GIGABYTE G1 Gaming GA-Z170X-Gaming 7
Ram:G.SKILL TridentZ Series 16GB
HDD:WD Blue 1TB Desktop Hard Disk Drive
Screen:Samsung 4K UHD 28 Inch UE510

Any suggestions are welcome. I have run this game in the past with an older rig at above 60fps. Thanks in advance.

Silly question, are you trying to run the game in 4k? If so no wonder the poor 1070 is struggling :P
i ran this game in 4k back then when it came out on a 970 with a freaking i5-760 at 60fps so cut that bull. a 1070 should be able to handle this game.

If OP find a solution please don't disappear and let us know :)

Usually I get good FPS but in some parts there are lot's of enemies or npc's and things to load in front of me the game stutters a little and drops FPS so I would like to know if I can fix this someday.

I think it's the game don't liking the CPU since the game use more CPU than GPU but I'm no pro :)

I will let you know if I find something. Still messing with things.

Thanks!

It might be Win10 since this new OS seems to have this new stupid trend to frak things with updates and them their best support advice is a damn clean install after every major system update :(

Since other games are fine to me I will not do a clean install cause it annoys the hell out of me for some reason :)

Also I find it strange that even change settings to potato mode makes no difference for me! Maybe it will give some tests ideas to you or don't hahaha

Same to me as well. Nothing seems to change. Constant 55fps for me all around.

Do you know whether any of the other games you have ran used DirectX 9, and have you monitored CPU core usage and GPU usage while playing the game? When you said that you tried changing all of the settings, does that include settings in the driver or just in the game?
Net Sphere Engineer 2017 年 7 月 11 日 上午 1:28
In my case I changed settings in the game, nvidia control panel and even disabled things like hyper threading on the bios cause other ppl on random google searches said that would solve problems like this in directx9 but nothing :(

I kind of gave up cause I might have tried everything on the internet hahahaha But if OP by some magic reason can find a fix why not try right :)

I have changed a bit of driver settings, but I meant the games in the original comment. My bad for not making that clearer. I have looked at my CPU useage, I was shocked to see it not use more than 30 percent since I heard this game is CPU intensive. I changed how many cores the game used from 7 to 5 and got a boost of 4 fps. I know the game itself uses I believe 3 cores. From what I've read into at least.

By core usage I meant usage % on each core instead of just the total, since if all cores aren't being used the total percentage isn't an accurate measure of what is going on. The game will use all cores available, at least during loading screens. I haven't paid much attention to what it does during gameplay though. The main thing to look for is whether it is maxing out any of the cores. If forcing it to run on fewer cores helped then turning off hyperthreading like Net Sphere Engineer mentioned might help as well. Checking the driver settings is worthwhile, since if any of them aren't set to let the application decide then the game's setting won't take effect. V-sync especially comes to mind. You didn't mention whether you have tested anything else that uses DirectX 9.

I'll look into that. I didn't even think of that actually thanks. I misunderstood what you meant. lol Most things I've played in a while have used 9 or 10. Haven't really noticed any issues. Is there something you recommend?

It is probably fine if the other Dx9 games you have played worked, but if you still want to try something else any benmark that has a Dx9 option should work. Windows can log performance information if you don't have a second monitor or another way to monitor the hardware while playing the game.

If you haven't done it yet make sure that the power management settings are set to performance, and that the memory settings are correct in the bios.

OP I have the exact same issue with the game and i'm using a 1080 Ti. Framerates are the same for 1080p, 1440p and 4K... What i've noticed is that my graphics card usage never goes above 35% at 1080p and never above 50% at 4K. Cpu usage is around 35-40%. At 1080p the usage is so low that my card which usually runs at 1900MHz+ is running at 1600MHz and sometimes as low as 1400MHz. GPU temps never exceed 54 degrees. Fps varies from 45 to 80+ depending on where i'm looking and where i am. The area around Gran Soren varies wildy.

As I always say I'm no pro but I think it's mostly cause the game engine sucks and some PC configurations are just strange for the game :)
