Not true. I've always bought the land, and only once have I ever spoken to Jasper first. You need to speak to all three of the family - Sarah, Pip, and Jasper - but you do not need to convince anyone or speak to them in any particular order. You can literally leave Fournival's side, talk to all three family members, and go back to buy the land from him in a matter of minutes.
it's an upgrade material for a useless coat. The money you make from evicting them can buy you a much better item than all of the items you get from buying out the house
I've tested it in half a dozen different ways in the past three weeks. In every case except one, Jasper did not even appear on the street until I had spoken to his wife or child, if not both. So no, you do NOT need to speak to Jasper FIRST. You simply need to speak to Jasper before speaking to Fournival.
I am not 100% certain that I have obtained consent from both the wife and son before speaking to Jasper. I know I've obtained consent before speaking to Fournival, but I don't recall whether I spoke to Jasper between getting everyone's consent and speaking to Fournival. I will test this in my next playthrough.
Same for me this game, except I didn't wait for the wife's consent. I talked to Sarah, then talked to Pip, then talked to Jasper, then bought the land from Fournival. All in the span of about two minutes.
I occasionally wonder if you can just wait a few days, not talk to anyone, and go buy the land from Fournival. I'd really rather not distress the family by playing enforcer to the rich jerk.
if you evict them, the kid will thank you later in the post game. For spoiler reason, i will not tell you the reason. The reward for evicting them is also much better than wasting 80k on their ugly house
I know what happens when you DON'T evict them, so it's not difficult to connect the dots.
I have wasted ten times that bribing myself out of the dungeon because I kept kicking Symone down the stairs over and over again. Seriously, 80k is not even on my radar.
