Kid friendly?
I play Skyrim and it's mostly okay around kids (a little blood, occassional alcohol mention, no cussing). Obviously games like Witcher are not okay around little kids. How would you describe DD's kid-friendliness?

I'd say DD is even more kid friendly than Skyrim up until you beat Grigori. Its your standard fantasy hero story. The knight runs around slaying monsters. I can't think of any mentions of mature things such as sex or alcohol. (Selena brews ales but thats about it). What might be slightly disturbling for younger audiences would be the dark rooms and the undead. And one scene with Salvation when the two guys run into their leaders blade to sacrafice themselves.
After killing Grigori the game becomes darker and creepier. Not really kid unfriendly but it might induce nightmares in less mature minds (just my opinion since I remember not liking creepy things when I was young). And while I'm talking abotu dark atmosphere the same thing would be for BBI. Daimon's 2nd form is really creepy

The main thing that makes me thing DD is not really kid friendly is that you need to commit suicide to get the true ending.
I would say the same as the above poster, skyrim is definetly less kid friendly now that I think about it, this game is just more gothic once you hit the dlc.

Depends on the kid, honestly. However, the opening scene where the main character's heart is torn out by the dragon could be pretty horrific nightmare fuel for some kids.

any kid over 10 should be ok really..

it is more child friendly than Skyrim, a little more cartoonish than skyrim as well.

is a good alternative too skyrim but much much smaller.

I don't think the suicide scene is creepy, it sounds a lot worse than it is, but in a way, suicide is suicide and some parents/concerned people may be concerned about it or a heads up. But from my semi deep skimming no one mentioned the light "sex" scene. Basically you get a lover for game reasons/spoilers and at a certain point you presumably have sex as they fall on you kissing, but that actual kissing is out of screen and it will switch to credits then you leaving the area then the credits and so on and the whole thing leaves A. LOT. To the imagination. They may even not have sex and it just be a [spoilers]Hey thanks for not letting me get eaten by a giant red friggin' dragon [/spoilers] so, thanks for that light make out session.

But anyways, there's a good chance they've seen worse on TV or through other media, even if their media consumption is monitored more scrictly. It does get kinda dark at certain points in the game, especially in the DLC, and there's a part where you can kill an unarmed man, but you are given the choice if you want to or not. In no way is it graphic, and they're not competely innocent. And really if the child in question does kill them, The game didn't force them. That part is skipable too. In terms of other wrong doings they can do, they're pretty much forced to be a good guy. I hate it, but it's hard to mod otherwise. Pretty much all of the crimes you can do is, attack people/kill them(non graphic) pick them up, throw them, kick/punch people, nothing "bad." If you do decide to be "dastardly" the guards instantly can tell that you've done what you done and will jog towards you, and if they get into a certain and rather large distance of you, you instantly are forced to surrender (i can kill a dragon with ease, but can't escape a guard five feet from me?
Pffffft) and thrown in jail. Another thing I almost forgot is you can sneak into the princess's room with her request, all the bad things about this part, is she refers to herself as a shameless harlot, the fact you snuck in there and [spoilers]the duke tries to murder her[/spoilers] at that part someone refers to them having sex rather subtle though. There might be something dark said there but I haven't found it. Though I "remember" a character saying it... might ve a quote from a different game that I for whatever reason stuck on Feste. The scene in question with it's worse moral ending can be reviewed here.

You also can have a makeout session that leaves a lot to the imagination with the princess which, passively suggest sex, but a young mind shouldn't grasp at it. And you can pick up an item/armor, a lingerie. Which most notable time is after the princess scene which is under her pillow for whatever reason......
This part is skippable too.

I would give this a rather solid child acceptable if you're okay with the make out "scene" the "murder" which doesn't show the deathblow if I remember correctly, the princess scenes and if the child won't mentally scar themselves with a darker game that can creepy at times. More of a I'm in a dark dungeon with monsters kind of creepy.

Of top of my head that's all I recall. Also remember, this is all of the bad explicitly put in one post, and in game they're more subtle and spread out. to the point it should be all right. To take out the "murder" and the princess stuff, don't talk to Mason, (his wuest line isn't even all that good anyways) and obviously the princess. And most of them are worst case scenarios.

The easily scared kids might have nightmares but most wont, I hate the horror genre yet I was able to watch Scream 1 when I was little without getting nightmares.

The game is not kid friendly. Anyone who is saying this game is kid friendly is lying.
The game is rated PEGI 18 and thus it has the same rating as The Witcher franchise. It does have mature content. No, there is not much sex in it and it is also a mistake that mature has to do with that alone. Alot of blood and gore is mature as well and Dragon's Dogma does have that.Same goes with violence. The prologue has a scene where one is being eaten by a three headed beast. And when you are finished with character creation you have that scene with the dragon, which is also not suited for minors.
Kids would be better off to play The Sims or Rollercoaster Tycoon instead and the very young ones would stick to Freddy Fish.

I'm sorry, but that's pretty funny. I'm pretty sure there is zero sex(unless you consider kissing sex) in it unless I missed some part and blood and gore are minimal to say the least.

I started playing Mortal Kombat when I was 6 years old and that's much less kid friendly. If your child is mature(and everyone matures differently) he should have no problem with this game. Sometimes I don't understand why people equate age to maturity I've seen some young kids that are more mature than teenagers,

As others have said this game is much more kid friendly than Skyrim. So if they're fine around that game this shouldn't be a problem. Plus I think they would like this game a little more. I put a ton of hours into Skyrim and just recently got back into DD:DA and it's been a lot more fun for myself.

The dlc is basically nightmare fuel for any kid. But the base game isn’t so bad until the end.

Really? How so? I saw gameplays of it and i wasen't scared

Skyrim has beheadings. Not really what I would consider "child friendly". DD doesn't have that game mechanic, it doesn't even allow you to kill everyone.

Out of the two I would consider DD child friendlier, however it has its age rating for a reason. At least I'd be more considerate with both games around kids.
