Rise of the Fallen not progressing

I took up the rise of the fallen quest and found the two guys talking to each other. i only followed from behind until they left the city and so i got no key. the quest assumed i have one because now im meant to go infiltrate but the doors are locked. help

Look at this wiki to help yourself. If you stealthed it then it should be "Dillans key" if you just ran up to them and ruined the meeting then you should already have the key. Hope this helps.

I saw the full cutscence and after i talked and followed tagert until he left the city. What i realize now is that the whole time i was wearing the robes cas its my regular atire. so although they saw and spoke with me nothing triggered

Did Dillan mention hiding his key before you followed Tagert? If so, then I think all you you need to do is go back to Gran Soren and see if you can find Dillan's key in its hiding place. That hiding place is in a barrel in a corner behind the Alehouse.

If not, then anyone who has an extra key can rent your pawn and gift you one.

He mentioned taking care of it but not hiding it. i checked the barrels behind the alehouse nothing was in them
