living armor has a trick to it if you go as assassin. when he charges at you, use shearing wind and you end up at his back. turn retaliate and when you see him raising his arm for shield bash, use shearing wind again and so on.
if it is only one living armor you can just spin him. problem is when there are more than 1.
2nd much safer cheesy tactic is using bow into his back for first part and in second one just wait when he casts his AoE flame and set Surging light tome behind his back. he will start blocking, so you simply provoke him out. either you hit him or tome does. in any way he will die quickly.
3rd even cheesier tactics is abusing his main flaw.
with words from Claptrap in Borderlands 2 "STAIRS, NOOOOOOOOOOO".
even just small jump down and he lands with really long recovery giving you time to attack. you can simply circle and bait him into doing that whole time. baiting him 2-3 stairs up and making him go sideways will already provoke that jump
also, you should have mag400 with gf heaven's keys for damage to be decent enough for second part. if you don't have it, just take 1 demon periapt... or 4
update: forgot nr.4 for assassin. just use masterful kill. you don't need to dodge at all except his shield bash
good luck doing that ;)
there is no best vocation in this game and each area in BBI comes packed with different enemies that are easier/harder for each vocation. no matter which one you choose you'll draw short one somewhere. post daimon each area has 2 or more different enemy setups.
go in with fire to be prepared for cursed dragons and meet firedrakes. prepare for those and you meet wyrms.
one thing that i do agree on is the fact that one should change vocations. not so much for making game easier, more because it makes game way better and less repetitive.
then again, some people maybe set challenge for themselves to play game as single vocation only. or really don't like how some vocations play. or simple deluded thinking how maxed stats will somehow make them ultra powerful. you simply cannot judge on someones decision
lol, you don't need anything like that
if i tell you that your commestion suggestion is one of absolutely slowest and least effective methods... will you listen and change according to what i say? most probably not
cursed dragon is more or less weak to everything once you get used to fight him and very soon you have more respect for hellhound than CD. fire is just one of those and probably by far least effective damage wise. while being weak to burning is completely pointless, you can burn him 1 hour straight to barely show results of any damage
- he is really vulnerable to holy and explosions which do tons of damage assassins powder blast, striders fracture dart, magick archers explosive volley, sorcerers seism can be terribly effective if it hits heart, but that is really hard to do
- he has especially weak last legs, just equip any hammer with 2 barbed nails and hit him with jump attack 3 times and he falls down. with rusted warhammer he practically can't even hit you once he falls down for first time. you just keep knocking him down followed by ard of obliteration
- mystic knights blessed riposte rips him apart on block, god forbid you set ruinous sigil and great cannon with riposte
- as fighter you can just stand under heart and simply execute dragon's maw on grabs
- brain splitter on his heart just shreads him to pieces in few jumps
- sorcerers frontal holy bolts when he is charging are doing awesome damage as well when you hit correctly. holy focused bolt has piercing and you can hit all possible hitboxes with that hit which results in damage being same as you hit head separately, heart, body...
i could go on and on and it would be the same. what all these share is one thing, you need to get over initial scare of him and that scare most probably results since this game puts you against first dragon when you have no clue how to fight him as well you have weapons that barely reach through his defense when you hit weakspots like his heart. this paints completely wrong picture in your head for a while when it isn't anymore true
in most cases this is like trying to persuade people that assassin is probably slowest dps in this game. you won't budge believers even though you explain that assassin practically has no good damaging offensive move, all his grand moves are of defensive nature or available in better form for other classes. this is just something person has to do himself, same as he has to figure out his best way to defeat something
i talk about club968 (if you don't know what that is. fighter 1-10, assassin 11-200... huaaa, gale harness->hundred kisses... which actually is really pisspoor damage they could easily outdo with gale harness and light attacks with no stamina use. and this will still get outdone by every single class)
playing some assassin is definitely advised if you prefer physical classes, but not too much. anything over 650 is like it doesn't exists at all.
probably best build to aim is 500/500 if you plan on using all vocations later. if you lean to one or another side, then best outcome is 650/400 or 400/650. at 650 with augments and lv.3 you're already way overboard too strong for this game
as for being good choice for beginners? i don't know if class that focuses on invincible moves is really that. no matter which class you go to later, you'll have bigger learning curve. second reason being that assassin has no crowd control skills. it is much harder for beginner to play as assassin with bow/dagger than strider or sword'n'board compared to fighter. assassin is simply jack of all trades and master of nothing
Ranger is okay, providing you are good at timing and have very good aim.
This is of course, without relying on periapts or blast arrows. Fighters and warriors are much more capable if they carry some throwblasts for use on some of the more annoying enemies, like the red phantoms.
as soon as you said fracture dart with dragon's ire... YOU FAILED! :) (no harm intended) explosion of fracture dart only draws from physical part of bow damage. go figure. darkening storm doubles damage. this is really easy to test for yourself. upgrade any bow so it has same physical ATK as ire and no MAG, now shoot fracture dart. damage will be the same considering that you also hit equally well. even on my pawn which is 420/650 darkening storm does ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ more damage in every single attack, except shooting living armor in 2nd form which is kind of obvious why
and i wouldn't say i am wrong.
in many areas magick archer is the best due to having ricochet and this is hands down. the more confined area, the better he is. but this attack is completely useless in way too many areas of BBI where MA simply blows as class. 9fold simply is not enough dps and explosive voley is another situational good or bad. seekers... pfft, you might as well unequip bow and start punching
also, people tend to miss one thing. when they compare MA to other classes, they use rebalancer 4x when they do that which is equal to when other classes use periapts. you can't additionally use periapts over 4x rebalancer, they only stack up to 4 times in no matter which combination. which is why i never equip rebalancer at all. it is easier to carry 12 periapts than risking one whole skill which also completely stops your play. MA even without rebalancer is strong enough for most things, so all you need is buffing for bosses
then again, in some areas mystic knight totally owns the ♥♥♥♥. all halls where ricochet is useless are perfect wide space for MK and his mass destruction combo anguish, ruinous sigil, cannon and blessed riposte. one single successful block practically destroys everything in the room. but, in confined space this simply can't be pulled off
strider on the other hand is never THE best class, but there practically is no area or enemy where it wouldn't rock really hard on 2nd place. this especially comes to light when you stop equipping kisses and use implicate instead. brain splitter already makes most of climbing pointless even with benefits strider has. implicate which is so shamefully ignored actually becomes totally awesome skill once you get knockback for it. long range mass defensive skill which also gives you mass preemption bonus. knock few enemies down and jump with splitter right in the middle to get them with AoE. for me it plays even better combo than soaring stone
ranger... what can i say. my 2nd most favorite class. i absolutely adore corkscrew+morbidity as it is one of games most fun skills. corkscrew is either best skill in the game in one situation or absolutely worst in another. 10fold+blast sadly make gameplay way too slow since you're constantly overburdened+out of stamina to be fun. and 10folding everything gets boring really fast
warrior and fighter are only in real hard place against wraiths. those are soooo annoying when you use these two classes since not only they are magic damage only, they float in the air which sucks double time. living armor on the other hand is surprisingly complete piece of cake. another thing that really sucks for fighter is eliminators stomp which knocks you down through block... i so hate that one. just when performing perfect block on one, another one stomps near me and i get floored. that... is... just... cheap ;)
sorcerer, yep. just as you described. HFB and occasional situational cast or cheesing. although, i had really, really fun time playing with 1 single tank and 2 sorcerer pawns equipping exact same spells as me and nothing else. 3 wyrmking rings + spell syncing of 3 sorcerers makes grand casting really viable play as long as tank keeps it together. and to my surprise it was much more fun than i expected
also, fighter/warrior best answer to wraiths is surging light tome, much better than throwblasts
