I think I messed up with Salomet's Grimoire quest.
I am at the quest where I have to get Salomet's Grimoire for this one guy and after searching both the locations to try to find it, it's not there. I searched it up and apparently I had to talk to the guy that the bandits were attacking. He had no quest marker over his head and I didn't know that so when I couldn't find Salomet's Grimoire, I simply went on to the female bandits fortress. Now I am trying to find the guy I needed to talk to. Does anybody know how I can progress in the quest? I have no saves that I can reload.

The grimoire is in Aernst Castle. Initially, ourside of Aernst Castle the bandits will attack you but once you go in into the ruins, the bandits there won't attack you unless provoked. At that point you can simply go to the highest tower there and find the grimoire in a chest, it may take a little "creative jumping" whether by levitation or double jumping but you can get it and walk right out with the bandits none the wiser.

Maul will also give you a side quest (provided you did An Uninvited Guest) to earn his affinity and he will give you the grimoire. You can also gift him skulls to raise his affinity high enough.

Ok, but where is Aernst Castle? The main reason I wanted to talk to that guy is to get the quest marker.

After you talked to the potion merchant in Gran Soren to get more info on grimoires, she will tell you that bandits probably took it and you will get two waypoints to each of the bandit groups. One is up north (Heavenspeak) and the other is west and south of The Encampment (Aernst) It's also possible to run into Rowland (the grimoire's first owner) on the Manamia Trail who will also give you a marker for Aernst.

I have the quest set as primary and I don't have any waypoints. I had two but the first one I went to was the one where the bandits were attacking the guy so I killed them and searched the area but Salomet's Grimoire wasn't there. When I went on to the second waypoint it wasn't there either. That is when I searched it up and found out I was supposed to talk to the guy I saved and now I am searching for him. That is when I made this post.

You probably were already at the castle and just missed it, its southwest of the The Encampment on the coast. You have to climb all the way to the top of the tallest tower and its in the chest there. If you need a more detailed walkthrough check the wiki article.[dragonsdogma.wikia.com]

Most of my map is blank. I'm guessing thats because I have never explored all of gransys. I am only level 22.

If you take a left after you get past the Encampment (first place your questline took you to and met the Hydra) follow the trail to the left when you leave Encampment , follow it up the hill , veers left after the boulder rolls down , take it to the Y where straight ahead is Witchwood, and right is the path you need to get to Aernst , kill bandits and cross the little bridge into Aernst Ruins. Big tower back past the Leader on your right is where the grimoir is located. you can do his quest to get it or just go up and take it.

Thank you! I have only tried to go down that path once when I was level 5. The bandits at the path before you get to that area killed me.
