Why are people saying its abandoned? it isn't!
The devs made a post in July of 2023, so people spamming the reviews with abandoned are just being blatant trolls at this point

That's because that post made in July said that the new update would come out in 2-4 weeks.

Another update in the next couple months, including an in-game tutorial to finalize the scope of the game we initially planned and to ease the onboarding for new players a bit. Plus a few completely new pieces of content too, which are already being made but which we'll keep as a surprise for now.

It's almost 2024 and there is no update in sight. No, the reviews aren't trolling, their complaints are legitimate.

I'm still waiting for that "big" thing since many months ago. I'm not hating, actually I love this game and I'm happy everytime it's updated, but there's just too much silence for something that was supposed to come out "in 2-4 weeks".

They are giving updates on their discord but it's mostly just "we're working on it". They should be giving updates on steam imo.

This is the first Steam conformation I have seen that the game is still being worked on since the July post.

And it came from a non-dev.

Yes. The devs need to extend their communication to Steam badly.

I agree, if you sell your product only on steam then make any and all communications on that same platform or at least repay it here and not just hideout on discord pretending you are informing your customers because you are not.... its complete BS.

They are getting the feedback/reviews etc they deserve, especially when you claim this project is only being made for "fun and giggles".

Great game that could have been huge but let down by some of the worst marketing decisions in game development and extremely poor communication.

To Dev's:
Get the f'k off discord and use steam to communicate or remain cowards.

Suggesting a game isn't abandoned because of a post nearly half a year ago isn't a good argument. I've paid for a lot of EA games. They have scheduled updates, I see updates anywhere from weekly to quarterly. When updates are not on a schedule and they especially fail to mention it outside of their discord, the game as well be abandoned to me because it sparks no comfort to buy it. This game looks good, but unless I see on Steam, clear and consistent announcements, I won't trust the devs.

It's abandoned. If any game, especially one that is multiplayer based in nature, has a population less than what steam is willing to show. It's essentially a dead game. I'm not hating, but this product is wasted potential for the sake of "passion" project. If that was used when the Wright Brothers were around, we wouldn't have the plane technology we'd have today.

To be fair, player count has always been incredibly low.

The all-time-peak spiked up to over 1k in 2018, but it has pretty much floated around double digit player counts for almost all of its lifetime.

Yep 100% agree. Everything pretty much went to ♥♥♥♥ when all communication migrated to Discord. I can't stand Discord. It's a disorganized mess and tedious to find old reports/news. Hell, the AFF Discord itself presents like a meme party or image broad. Not an actual professional platform.

I don't regret spending the $14.99 I spent on AFF when it first released in early access. I've gotten well over 200 hours in the game. So I got my money's worth, but it does make me sad that it was a really great idea and very unique, but ultimately dissolved due to more management.

At this point it’s pretty much wraps for this game though… even on discord there hasn’t been much activity since the announcement and its delay

I believe they put up the big new shiny update to garnish some more shekels before it goes down the toilet... unless they died from a car crash or the clot shot I can't see another reason for the silence.
Game is still indev, go on discord and complain why Farseer cant Update a game, it became a meme there

I remember why that was the case.. Wasn't it a free to play weekend during that time?

Not sure. I bought the game shortly after it came out, had my fun messing around with it and then got distracted with other things and largely forgot about the game.

It's quite unfortunate, really, but from a financial and business standpoint, the game has failed. It doesn't much surprise me that it's in the state it is in, I'd probably lose interest in developing a game for many years too if it felt like it's all for nothing and the game is largely finished.

In another thread, someone mentioned that apparently, a lot of the original developers left the team when Covid hit. I don't know if that is actually true or not, but if it is, that would explain why development stopped nearly entirely. Hiring more developers isn't feasible when there's no money, and even then, they wouldnt be familiar with the game at all which makes it harder.

Only thing I'd wish for is if they were a lil more transparent about all of that on the Steam News too. Like for the very least, when the devs announce an update that never happens, it'd be nice to know more about that and why it doesnt happen instead of being left in the dark. Not that it would really change anything about the state of the game but at least we'd know more and aren't just left in the unknown about things.
