Manual saves?

I see this game is being advertised as an "old school shooter," well, back when the FPS genre first hit the scene (with games like Wolfenstein 3D and DOOM), we could save whenever and wherever we wanted.

Can we save when and where we want in this game? If not, fine, that's the developer's choice, but it's NOT old school then.

Awesome! You'd be surprised how many devs claim their game is "old school," yet forget (or purposefully leave out) manual saving, which was definitely part of old school PC gaming.
