How do you play multiplayer on this game?

Me and my freind got this game because it said co-op on it so we can play it together but we followed the steps on the host server but it wont let us play it. I started the server and all but than what do i do i went onto the game and clicked host server agein but it didnt work. How do i do this!

Basically it's like this:

1) Start the server from the executable, load/make a world as non-public
2) Launch the game, click `join local server` in the multiplayer menu
3) You should have joined that server now
4) Invite friends via the friends menu of steam

If the non-public doesn't work, you can try a public one but whitelist it (go to gamedata/savegames/whitelist.txt , there should be some readme in there)
