A basic guide.
The player can put a bow and arrows (not the Quiver) in their hot bar to kill zombies. Lead the target the arrows fly slow. Bread heals the player.

The player can manually plant trees, wheat and flax. The latter two need dirt. Right click places stuff. Left click harvests stuff. To create a farm for a colonist right click and drag then right click again. Biggest farm is 100 tiles. Place a box close so they are not going far to drop off the yield.

The player can mine ores by left clicking the tile; hold as the progress bar goes. All ore is found at the bedrock level. At the moment all ore tiles are infinite but that may change.

The player can not smelt ores or use the oven to bake bread. You can't mint coin or operate the shop manually. You need the Colonists for that.

Wheat seed and saplings can be obtained by harvesting grass and leaves. Flax seed must be bought with gold coin. The mint makes the coin from gold ingot, the shop buys the flax seed.

Place a farm by left clicking with 1 selected on you number bar. Choices are one wheat farm, flax farm, logging and Mine. A mine on ore at bedrock yields ore with a colonist working it. A mine on bedrock with no ore yields stone brick with a colonist working it.

To recruit a colonist you need: the banner placed. A bed placed with no path blocked to either the banner or the work areas. You need some food. If your out of food you can't recruit. You've lost the game.
Right click the banner for the UI. Hit the button.

You may need two or three furnaces to keep up with your miners.

Wheat produces: seed, dough and straw. Wood plus straw makes the bed.

To craft anything the ingredients need to be in your hot bar. You can craft arrows.

Place a quiver to set up an archer. R sets the direction of aim. He turns slowly. Put them back to back if placed out in the open. Do not seal up your sleeping area or the banner. This is not minecraft! Create a long corridor into the base so the zombies line up on the archers with little cover.

Pay attention to the unemployment rate. Do not try to move an archer if the unemployment rate is -1 he will take the other job and you will be down one vital archer [That's how I died on my first go. lol ]

Dirt, grass, leaf blocks make viable walls.

The crafter is not used by the player. It it used to automate the production of some things. It needs a colonist. It is the only way to make linseed oil. You can use its UI to set priorities.

The world has sand and water, taiga trees and taiga grass. Have fun finding them. Place trails or arrows of torches pointing to you base so you don't get lost. Try not to die.

I hope this helps.

If you go out exploring and get lost, "/cheats on" and "/teleport banner" can be handy.

I went out exploring without thinking about it. Fortunately I didn't go too far and while I didn't find my colony by walking, I was close enough that when I finally gave up and used a cheat, it was flight and I was close enough to see where my colony was. /teleport banner would have been a bit easier if I had known about it at the time :)

Derp polling works but I was not lost when I tried it. I was just checking view distance.
