"Currently, multiplayer is just singleplayer with more players. You can’t really interact with other players: you cannot trade with them, you cannot kill them, you cannot declare war on them, you aren’t protected from grieving by other players. We want to improve player interaction in multiplayer." from http://www.colonysurvival.nl/2017/06/roadmap-things-we-want-to-add-during.html
and
"Is there multiplayer?
Yes! Though the interaction between players is basic, all features of the singleplayer are in the multiplayer. It works mostly like a coop, where you can each build a colony wherever you want including within the same walls. There is no real hard limit on the amount of players, but performance-wise it'll be about 5-20 colonies at the same time, depending on hardware, colony size, colony location and upload bandwidth. Upload bandwidth of the server is likely the quickest bottleneck (A large colony of ~100 colonists seems to take 50-100 KB/s)." from http://steamcommunity.com/app/366090/discussions/0/1354868867730682564/
One of the players' computer does the hosting.
Beyond that, I have no clue, as I never quite figured out how to get a friend to join.
Thanks for the info.
