yes. the plants dont need light, just dirt to grow

no water or sunlight required so you can totally build a tower that is 23x23 on the inside.
with crates at each corner of the 4 wheat farms on each level..
Can take it a step further and place four beds around the crate in the middle if you want to keep your colonists as close to the farms as possible.
