I died 3 times trying to use glider how do i use it

and how the hell do i take 32 damage from dropping 5 blocks hight like WTF.

Use spacebar to go up when on the ground and when in the air to go down.
Use mouse movement to look around.
Use W + mouse movement to change direction.
Use mouse button while looking at big wood pieces of the glider to enter and exit.

I tried that and I just jump. I had the glider in my hot bar and took serious damage when hitting or tapping holding down space bar. I spent all this time not cheating to use fly mode and now I feel cheated.

If the glider is in your inventory, right click to set it up, like any block.
The right click on the glider in the game world, that will get you inside.
Once inside, as mentioned, spacer to go up, W to go forward, and use the mouse to turn.
To get out, just crash the glider on your target, right click to get out, then left click to put it back in your inventory again.

I feel your jumping off tall things to glide. the glider works from the ground once placed and is more like an engine less plane that has magic lift.
