Effecient Farming
what is the best peremeters to use for farming? Ive noticed that when you have tree and berry farms the sapplings and bushes and spaces away from each other, does anyone know the most efficient peremeter to use to get the most resourse output for the least amount of area?

For berry farms i use a size of 5x9 tiles which gives you 2x5 bushes, for trees i use 9x9 tiles which gives you 3x3 trees but more efficient should be 6x15 for 2x5 trees.
(For wheat and flax farms i use 11x9 so all the farms have one side with a length of 9 tiles...)

As Not Sure said re. berries and trees.

Wheat and Flax, short answer 10x10.

Long answer - Wheat and Flax are single tile, so it's purely down the number of tiles you can get, which caps at 100 (any shape that covers 100 or less - and is above the minimum length on both sides - will be placeable, any shape that contains over 100 tiles will say area too big).Since the farmers can harvest the full 100 tiles (including replanting them) in a single day, the shape is irrelevant to the efficiency, the only thing that might cause a problem is walking distance to a storage and/or time lost in the morning getting from bed to farm.

Basically, if you see a farm ready to harvest in the morning and freshly replanted by night, it can't be made any more efficient. Any improvements to the farmers efficiency just lead to him standing in the farm idle after replanting it.
for Wheat and Flax its 10x10, berries have a good usage on 4x10 (10 bushes) and trees i use mainly 9x9 but if i got to use some Space for trees i use 3x33 as its the best with 11 trees on a 3x3 row.

It doesn't actually matter how many berry bushes are present in a single field of berry bushes. Every berry farmer has the same output (assuming the distance to the crate is equal). I always try to create the smallest fields possible for berry farmers :)

Is that the same for apiaries, fish farms, and other farms that sprout a 1m^3 block? And then I would assume things that grow up from the ground like flax would act like your description of wheat, right?

How you describe berry bushes is counter-intuitive, btw. But, good to know that I can border my 10x10 farms by 4 5x5 farms

correct although the optimal layout for beekeeper and chick farmer is 3x3 and forester is 3x33 for everything else except fields i suggest 5x5 because it requires less walking
Thanks so much ✨
From what I've tested, the only limiting factor in berry farms is the amount of time the farmer spend walking between bushes. The less time he spends walking about, the more berries he'll harvest.
What I've been doing is making the farms as small as possible, then blocking all but two of the places berry bushes would go with leaf blocks. That way the farmer will stand between the two bushes and harvest them one after the other, if you then put a crate next to him, then he'll not have to move at all.

interesting, it use to be that if they couldn't place a job block they would get confused and stop working but maybe they fixed that now
anyone know a good size for the forester for know i use 3x33 but i think that might to big considering the walking distance and also all my colonists make a journey to eat their daily meals but that consumes time is their a way for them to eat meals close to their working space?

Crates solve the walking problem, grocerys the food distance problem

Is this true of other farmer types?

This isn't true anymore, 3x3 beekeper gives you 4 hives
for fields 10x10 or 5x20; trees 3x33; everything else, just the minimum required to place the zone( it doesn't matter how many bushes or hives there are as the farmer will try to interact with all present in the zone
