Server Saving

Do servers save on exit? and is there any way to force a save?

Currently there is no way to force a save, and it saves on exit for a variety of things. It autosaves some other data (maybe player data, and definitely the world data itself (the raw blocks)).

Only if there is some error saving (I haven't identified one, but there's some reports) or if you suddenly lose power or quit the server proccess via task manager or something.

Well of course, thats not a proper exit.

True, true. But there's quite some games out there that are okay with sudden exits as long as they don't happen during a save point/moment.

yeah, but those games periodicly autosave. One thing I enjoy about this game is that it feels like a cross between dwarf fortress and minecraft. You have a done a wonderful job.
