No mod support (for now)
Hi!

As we've received a few inquiries here and through other channels about mod support, we wanted to give you a clear response about it.

Truth is, we'd love to add mod support to the game, it's the perfect candidate to have them, but at least for now is not in our immediate plans to do so.

Unfortunately, PD wasn't designed from the beginning to have mods, and adding that *properly* is a lot of work, something akin to rewrite the game.

We know there are mods out there, but they modify parts of the game directly, which we can't really allow if we want the Steam version to continue working and all that :).

If we end up implementing this, we'll add a notice here and through other channels.

Thanks for understanding!

Still a yearning for mods, though I understand the complications - it's so ripe for it! :pdgold:

Since the game is otherwise free and open-source, the first one of us who wants to make mods can just write the mod support and send Pull Request to Watabou. Is this legit, @arcnor?

just make it so people post diffs as Steam Workshop Mods and eventually the game gets recompiled somehow eg with JDK or binary diff files or something, at OS level... only one mode active at a time though
Update on how development for mod support is going?
