That is a rather meager risk for gaining a quality weapon. No one will be concerned about that when they take it, because you will recoup the rep loss rather quickly. On the other hand, if there is a chance for a tough fight, then more thought would be put into the decision...
there is already quests like it, like that cargo quest where its turns out you transporting necrosavants - and it next to impossible to win that fight
I won the fight but lost the caravan :/
You can put anyone you want. Remember you will not have a tactical battle, just some text which will list all the injuries you received from whoever was po'd enough at you. Just another event like the kids trying to steal from you, the traveling sideshow, and the other events that have negative and positive outcomes.
I mentioned this many times, but every text event needs some type of consequence otherwise it is an annoying waste of time ....
Not all random event battles have to be text only. There are plenty that aren't, since they assume the enemy isn't a pushover. (Thief arrest, transporting necrosavants in a caravan escort, bounty hunters...)
