Killer on the Run (Spoilers)

This opinion was formed playing expert ironman, I don't know how the event goes in lower difficuties. I feel that this background is a trap. It can't be hired because eventually he is going to try to kill a brother and all 3 choices that you are given result in losing the killer.

Your killer on the run attempts to murder a brother. You are given 3 options.
1- Whip him. The killer will become angry even if he was previously in good spirits. He will desert the company within 30 seconds of this event. (Happened with 2 different killers anyway)
2- Kill him (To be honest, haven't tried this one)
3- "This is your family" where the company can kill him and then loses a huge chunk of morale.

Because of this one event, the background can't be hired. There is no good way out of that event (unless there is a surprise that I'm not aware of if you choose to kill him). You only know this if you have experienced it in the past. It just feels like this background is a trap and something should be changed.

Actually if you choose to whip and then drink until that specific brother gets the morale boost, he won't desert. I've successfully done it before.

How is your morale in general? So far I've seen two posts where your soldiers have left you in less than 30 seconds after an event!

My killer on the run was pretty pissed off after his whipping, but stayed with me.

Admittedly, I play on a lower diff. But I never leave a white or less brother in reserve, unless he's content with it.

Even if they are in good spirits they seem to go strait to angry and leave. I had one get the event the day that I hired him and he deserted as well. At this point when I get a negative event I just immediately take all of the gear off of them and expect a desertion.

Its tough to keep them in super high spirits once the easy ambitions are done and all of the contracts are difficult enough to result in injuries and the occasional death.
