Save during battle
Since the patch some enemies seem more cautious (which is cool) but this means battles are taking longer. Is there any chance we could get an option to exit and save during a fight?

This is because sometimes reallife gets in the way. Its particlarly an issue on Ironman.

Cheers!

Save during combat is highly unlikely.
I also have to do other stuff while playing, that's why i play turn-based games. You can leave your screen and no one gets hurt ;)

I am conflicted about that; while most of the time you are right, something you gotta leave and I am no big fan of leaving the pc on. It be cool to have a combat save slot that is only accessible from the main screen (continue campaign/battle) I am no fan of savescumming but I am less of a fan of games that are too zealous against it

It's not so much about save scumming. Maps are proceduraly generated and enemies as well (their equipment) and there are no seeds for either of those elements.
What you guys ask would require a huge amount of work, and there is only one coder who has to focus on bug fixing, AI and balancing.
Hope it is clearer with those infos.

Too much save scumming, no thank ye :3 If you can save during battle, there is no risk involved and you might as well be able to win every single conflict with pure RNG. That would take any joy and excitement out of this game.

Saving and loading
A couple of suggestions:

1. It would be nice to be able to load a game during combat. I understand why you can't save, but you should be able to load.
2. When saving over an existing slot, the game should ask if you would like to overwrite it.

I totally accept devs explanation, but tbf i wasnt looking for save scum option. Just that sometimes i cant leave my computer on and come back to it.

You can already save-scum just by hitting alt-f4. It's very odd that in a game when battles can be very long you can't save during combat.

I am in support of leaving battles with the option of coming back. Whatever you prefer to call it, I find it a more positive feature the game is missing. As battles drag on in the mid-late game, and you get more and more cautious (which leads to more time spent per turn), to have life interrupt makes the whole process frustrating. Too often I find that my ever important survive or die battle with an orc camp is interrupted, and I have to reset the whole darn thing when I return.

Ironically if you "could" return to where you were in the battle it would make alt-f4 scamming _harder_ assuming it always saves if you quit in Iron Man (rather than just giving the option) - instead of getting to the beginning of the battle and thus having a chance not to take the fight you'd be where you left off.

But implementation wise it means details about _all_ the non-permanent characters (meaning the enemies, allies etc.) that you're in the battle with would have to be stored somewhere. Not an impossible technical challenge... guessing most of that info for the party is already getting stored.

Is the game still under development? - I'd appreciate an option when starting ironman to be unable to savescum the way I used to when I tried it.

The devs have stated that they have moved on to their next project and we can't expect new developments in a while, as even the last free DLC (which wasn't directly developed by the devs) proved to be too distracting for them.
