Game won't launch anymore
Last night I was able to play this game even with Avast Free installed.

Today when I tried to play it Avast flag it and put battlebrothers.exe into the virus vault and the game will not launch. Everytime I hit play my profile icon lights up green then goes back to blue.

I removed the flagged .exe and went thru the steps everyone else outlined by going thru the settings of Avast, that didn't help.

I've uninstalled Avast, still doesn't launch.

I've reinstalled the game multiple times.

I've tried using the 'old version' doesn't launch.

I've reinstalled steam still doesn't launch.

I've set run as admin on all users doesn't launch, and when I go into the folder and run the game directly it says 'irrKlang.dll not present' even tho I can see the .dll in the folder.

I've updated my graphics drivers, run multiple programs to see if any other drivers need updating, I've installed it on other hard drives.

Still doesn't launch.

Try verifying the integrity of the game files.
Maybe even delete that .dll beforehand, since it is apparently already missing.

Deleted the .dll and verified the integrity then 'reset config' before trying to hit play game and the same thing.

The process comes up in my task manager for a split second, the icon for my profile goes green for a couple of seconds then the game crashes and fails to load.

It could be your problem is caused by something else, but for someone, experiencing the same symptoms, the steamwebhelper.exe was the issue,

while it was some DirectX9 error for me. In my case I also wasn't able to launch some other non-steam games (Diablo 3, Evil Genius( GOG)) anymore. That helped me to pinpoint what caused the problem.
Some installation/update must have corrupted it somehow.

However, I was able to fix it multiple times already by checking/repairing the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables.
In my case it was the Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable (x64) that caused the trouble, if I remember correctly.

Navigate to Apps & features, select a Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable, select Modify and then Repair. After the repairing process has finished a restart may be necessary.

(Note: Once or twice I had to repeat the repairing of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable (x64) several times until it was fixed.)

I just went full nuclear option and reinstalled my OS and drivers, hopefully THIS will let me play again.

Me too.
I built a new computer and copied steam games folder to the new comp. BB doesn't start any more. (It did work on old comp.)
Uninstalled BB, removed BB directory from steam games folder, removed BB folder from MyDocuments. And re-installed. BB doesn't start.
Disconnected extra displays and usb's. BB doesn't start.
Repaired MS C# redist 2012, both 64 and 32 bit. BB doesn't start.
BB is the only game that refuses to start.
And with "BB doesn't start", I mean that it actually kind of does. I can see it in Taskmanager\Details, but nothing happens on the screen.
