Game is not responding on start up ( white screen )
Hi there ,

Just bought this game & cannot launch it on my gaming laptop . Getting a black screen for 1 sec followed by a full white screen & while i click on it after some time it shows a Battle Brothers.exe is not responding with 2 choices to quit or to wait more . Waiting doesnt help ( i did it for at least 10 min few times ) .
I tried to investigate my log file & it shows no error to me ( seems like game is running ) Will send the log file & dxdiag file to the developers together with this post.
I tried to reinstall the game , Reset configurations , run it as admin , i updated both video cards to the newest drivers , running the game through NVIDIA Panel settings either with integrated video card ( IntelHD 4600 ) or High performance GPU (gtx 970m ). Even disabling one videocard in Device manager while trying another one - nothing helped . I checked to allow this game through my firewall. I downloaded BETA through Steam & it didnt work either . Only the " old_version "download worked , but i wanna play a full release.
Also im not running Avast anti virus only Avira ( which i disabled to run the game once )
I dont have Plays.tv on my laptop either . Have bunch of Steam games ( new & old ) & they run without a problem.
Thank you & i really hope you can help me

Hey man did you try the reset game configuration button
vohnyk May 16, 2017 @ 8:55pm
Yes i did . Mentioned about it in my post
Did you try deleting the config located at C:\Users\Name\Documents\Battle Brothers if that doesnt work then try deleting both the old_versions and new located on the documents folder if not then try doing a fresh game install you can easily do this by creating a steam backup so you dont have to download the whole game again

Hello,
Note: I am not a dev.

Since you have updated your video drivers, but still can only play the "old_version". How did you update them, have you done it manually or have you used some update function of some software?

You may want to check what driver date your DxDiag states.

Two more things you can try:

Wrote 2 emails to the developers contact@overhypestudios.com more than a week ago with all the information about my problem ( log & DxDiag files included). Never got any answer back from them . I understand that dev team is really small but at least they could write me back about that they are going to look into the issue & that it takes time ....

Recently bought this game, having the same trouble as what's listed here. Tried everything I found and could on this forum to no avail so far. Just a black or white screen, and it freezing and waiting. Log file's last line is
"Screen 'RootScreen' successfully registered."
Old version works, demo does not either, does the same thing, didn't bother to try the Beta as it doesn't look like that'd change much.
Drivers are as up to date as an AMD Radeon HD 5450 can be (AMD doesn't support HD 5xxx series anymore)

I still have the same problem & never got a reply from dev team . I hope you will be more lucky & can get some answers from them :(

I'm glad I'm not the only one the devs are ignoring

Well, be interested to find out more about what is causing it, far as I can tell you had Windows 10, The OP has Windows 8, I've got Windows 7... So not the same OS in any case. OP tried using two different GPU's both have worked for other people, I've got a different one as well, so not sure if it's even related to that... Maybe there's a some library or something we're missing, that maybe other people have from somewhere else? Or something we've got in addition that's conflicting?
Demithy Dec 29, 2017 @ 11:11am
Still can't run it, tried installing older video drivers (including ones that support OpenGL 4.3, was oldest I could find, 4.4 on the rest).
Tried to installing/uninstalling C++ Redistributions until I matched my fiancee's list of em, as it works on her laptop (also running Windows 7, and OpenGL is 4.1 with her graphics driver)
Looked up what was used to make the game, programmed in Squirral, using Awesomium? Is there a library for awesomium? No idea what that is, or what it's for... HTML for display, something there I might need to update?
Any ideas would be nice...

Same thing happened to me. Happy to see this issue still isn't resolved 3 years later. Shame, really wanted to play this game. Had to refund it.

I have the same problem. the developers ignore this. I don't want to return the game, I want to play

This bug report (from *three and a half years ago*) is from when the game was in early access. Many things have changed since then, and the original report is almost certainly useless. If you want this to get fixed, and your computer meets the game's minimum requirements, I'd ask that you follow the bug reporting instructions in this forums and send your logs and DxDiag to the devs. Instructions here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/365360/discussions/1/618460171328085606/

That'll make this much more likely to get fixed than necroing old posts like this.
