it would make the game playable after you beat the big bad evil dudes as the kingdoms warring with each other would make it be continuous....... or if it conflicts with the big evil dude invasion, then maybe have it as end game material, like all kingdoms at peace with each other until you beat the big bad evil army thing and when you done that they get rid of their peace and set their eyes on attacking each other.... kinda like how politics works! lol got rid of mutual threat, then try take advantage of after effects of the war, like power vacuum
As you mentioned, depending on the AI kingdom behavior, they may wish to continue the war and try to hold off the invasion on their own at the same time, or they may forge a temporay alliance with other kingdoms until the threat is gone.
Who says mercenaries can't play politics; will the player fight for peace, go where the fat money bags jiggle, or wish to create an endless war by trying to prolong it?
