Daggering bros
Should i always just bust out a dagger when they are getting low or should i just focus on killing everyone first then surrounding one guy at the end instead of trying to get multiple armors at once. I struggle gettin geared up fast enough

You could theoretically use low fat builds to QH to dagger mid fight. Otherwise this seems very risky.

On a side note raiders and billmen often wear little to no head armour. So if you lash with flails you can reliably kill them and get their body armour.

On another side note I also had trouble gearing up because I tried to go from raider gear to bandit leader type gear (160+). There is a middle step: raiding supply caravans with 5-7 soldiers. They have T2-3 weapons and the mail hauberk (150) and because there are only a few it is easy to surround and dagger them

Flail is more reliable getting standard raider gears. Daggers should be reserved for key target that have way fancier hat and shirt than yours, or when the battle is already won.

kill them all. sell their weapons. Buy quality armor.

Using a dagger for the purpose of getting armour should only be done when you feel confident that you can do it safely. That way when it backfires you have no one to blame but yourself.

This is such a big topic.

Some people primarily use daggers (as primary weapons!) in the earlyish game against thugs and raiders, because the morale checks can end fights by themselves.

These people are usually very advanced players, though.

Personally, I tend to agree that flails are actually my best source of raider armour. I usually have some kind of high-fatigue QH 1h mace/flail (with shield) guy who will try to pop guys with low head armour in the head. This is great in raider fights.

But daggers are really good, and sometimes gambling on puncture is better than picking away with a weaker weapon.

Flails are good, yeah. But I've had excellent success stunning with maces whilst a lone bro daggers away. It's when you want the helm that the problems start...

When starting out/low level you should just target 1-3 dudes to loot completely with puncture (highly depends on your confidence). Late game you can kill everyone and just loot the leader like enemy for very good armor/weapon.

Or you can go full yolo and get everyone dagger mastery -> get at least 3 dudes adjacent to the enemy for bonus hit chance -> puncture and hope they die in 1 turn. Rinse and repeat for the remaining 14 bandits lmao

A lot of human groups with good starter gear will split up and hit you on both flanks.

Tactically it just make sense to move your boys to dominate one group or the other first. Kill the group that has lamer armor fast. If you shift to kill the weaker enemy group, you can avoid the stronger ones for at least 1 turn. If you have a good tank or two, or a lame sacrificial bro you don't mind losing, you can delay them for longer with safety. Then you can surround and gank the guys with the good armor and likely even demoralize them into standing still while being surrounded and can-openered out of their armor.

When I first start a game, I like it when I can buy daggers for cheap. I don't like to spend money on junk weapons when they are plentiful on thugs, but the daggers are so useful. So why not gear up my starting losers with these cheap weapons.

In my experience, daggering people before I've got full control of the battlefield has a great potential for going south -- just one lucky hit from the poor bugger I'm daggering and the battle can turn tides. I prefer to use flails and get my dagger out when there's just one or two guys about to flee.
