Alternatively you could mass hire bros to fish for some chads, if you plan to keep playing for much longer.
The worst part of that event is that it's bloody repeatable, you'll feel the pressure quickly enough if you keep paying. Best to just hire the paymaster and forget about it. But you could also decline it and take the one-time pay increase per bro in the form of greedy, they'll eventually develop disloyal that'll make them content to sit in reserve without losing mood (just dont let them become unhappy or they'll leave so fast)
For now I think it's the big wagon and some training hall time, then look at hiring the Paymaster once I'm in the chips again. Thank you both for the advice! :)
( Aphotecary's Miracle crafted at a taxidermist). You mentioned a 500 payroll but I was able to manage a 700 daily upkeep and still make money in one of my playthroughs, and while researching something else I found people online who claimed to go as high as 1200 daily upkeep and still manage it. Reaper does have a point about prioritising weapons, for me it's usually the first thing to go for once I have passed the horrors of the early game. You must however pay close attention to how much of an upgrade a named weapon is going to be, since the boost to its stats is random. And Wagon is something that you will always get eventually, it's entirely up to you when you feel financially comfortable getting it.
Unless you have downloaded the mod that fixes it, the Cook us useless.

Interesting. According to the thread Blacksmith doesn't work either, but I just launched the unmodded game on a laptop and the Blacksmith faster repairing definitely works. The Cook HP regen, however, is definitely bugged without the mod.
Yes, 30k is the threshold for brothers to ask for a raise. The Greedy trait seems to have an independent threshold of 4k crowns when asking for a raise.
I will be taking a look at the weapons upgrades though, I have learned recently that orc young and beserkers I've been mowing down on contracts are a cast iron ♥♥♥♥♥ to deal with when their gobbo friends are replaced with warrior tanks. No more warlord camps for the time being....
