Goblin Ambushers and Armor
I played a Line Battle against Goblins and noticed something strange - my guy with Lamellar Harness was under heavy fire from Goblin Ambusers. What surprised me was the fact that sometimes he was hit significantly more than usual and died with his armor at 151/230.

I noted stats for the Boondock Bow:

Damage 25 - 40
65% effective against armor - 26

Looking by the numbers at 151/230 10% out of maximum 26 damage (due to "effective against armor stat) is 2.6. Or 3, to round it up. So how could my guy the damaged so badly by arrows early on (when his armor was at it finest) and later get many arrows when almost dead? I can't see the pattern here. What am I missing? Are they bypassing armor with bows as a class ability of theirs?

The armor system has been change with the last update, every weapon in the game deals hp and armor damage on hit now. Goblin poison also eat up hp.

I know about the change. I am just trying to make sense out of it.

I replayed the battle again and watched the combat log carefully. It seems that arrows were hitting the head - much weaker protected, to save some stamina - in between hitting the body armor, which did good job protecting the wearer. Confusion aroused, because when headshot kills (or weapon that can bypass armor, etc.) you don't get the information what exactly killed your guy. Only "X has been killed".

I assume that the matter is with poison mechanic. My theory, if a certain amount of damage got past the armor(depending on a roll), the poison also deals damage. Which is why it seems like their arrows so frequently "ignore" armor. I can be completely off, though.

That's not quite how it works. With the Aimed Shot skill, the Boondock Bow can inflict a maximum of 48 points of damage per shot to hitpoints in the hands of a Battle Brother. Of those 48 points, 40% can ignore armor, which is ~19. Of those 19 points of damage, 10% of the current armor value is subtracted, e.g. 19-15 (4 damage bypasses armor) when at 150 armor. Because damage to armor is applied before direct damage to hitpoints, the current armor value used for the purpose of determining direct damage that bypasses armor will never be the value of entirely undamaged armor. And as you mentioned yourself, shots can also hit the head for a 50% increase in damage, i.e. a total damage of ~72 in this example. Of those, ~29 can bypass armor as direct damage, which is again reduced by 10% of the current head armor value after damage to the helmet is applied. The "effectiveness against armor" is used solely for determining the damage done to armor, which is different from direct damage that bypasses armor.

I hope it makes more sense now. Damage done on killing blows will be displayed in the combat log with the next update.

Also, no, the poison of Goblin Ambushers does not deal any damage.

It makes sense! I didn't take extra damage from headshots into consideration. And thank you for updating the combat log. I like the update, but certainly there will be a lot of getting used to the changes.
