No women but can have goblins and undead?

Don't understand how women can't be in this game, title says it all. So we can have goblins and other things that make zero sense and have no basis in the real world but the argument for women being excluded is that they weren't fighters back during the medieval period? lol Did I miss something in history because to my knowledge goblins and zombies weren't around either and worse, they don't even exist! Very cringy to read as to why women are excluded. Seriously feel they should be added at some point. As a heterosexual male, I'd rather have a bunch of women on my team rather than dudes. Seems like this game is a sausagefest to me. Am I wrong? Will women ever get added?

It's a fantasy setting, there is no point in comparing it to the real world.
If the devs decided, for what reason ever, that the ingame lore says "women do not fight", that is fine.
I honestly can't remember the lore-wise reason for that, so i'll just assume that women are to smart to do the hard work and let the stupid men do the fighting and killing.

The main reason why women where not added to the game is, that they would need to adapt every freakin text in the game to fit that, It really has a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of text that would have to be reworked.

I also do not see the point why the players gender or sexuality would matter for that at all. It's not a dating sim, right?

Yeah, their diegetic reason exclude women was a particularly bad one. But it will not change for this game; hopefully it will change for their next.

Per the FAQ, the reason you can't hire female mercenaries is due to the implementation effort required, particularly in the writing. Not sure what you read, but the amount of work required isn't changing and my understanding is that the devs would rather use that time to instead add mechanical, non-lore features to the game, or put it towards other projects (that may have female characters).

Hopefully that answers your question. The flame wars about whether they should or should not add female mercenaries are incredibly tired at this point and haven't meaningfully advanced the game or the community in a good 5 years, so I'd ask that you just add a thread in Game Suggestions to indicate you'd like the feature and move on. If the thread devolves into bickering, as it's prone to, I'll lock it.

Just switch "Dwarf" to "Battle Brother"

There is no female style of clothing or female pronoun; there are no female names in Dwarfish. Both male Dwarfs and female Dwarfs naturally have beards and it has never occurred to any Dwarf to shave, and thus doing so is considered undwarfish and shameful. The gender of a Dwarf is only revealed to those concerned, during courtship, when the concerned parties are deemed mature enough to handle it without giggling (gender not being considered important by most dwarfs compared to things such as metallurgy and hydraulics). An interesting implication of this custom is that there is no gender discrimination when a Dwarf seeks a job position or tries to make a career or open a business.

Maybe some brothers feel they are women. Who are you to suppose they are men? even some of them can be non binary too :)

Actually, the only place the women are absent is your company. And even then - as arbuzzi8383 mentioned, there is a mod to fix that. Just install it and field as many battle sisters as you want.
