What's the deal with Hunter and Poachers having stars in melee attack and defense and nothing in ranged? lol

They shouldnt get any stars in those, maybe 1star max. But what to say, finding hunter can take hundreds of days to find. Finding one that has normal stats is even more rare.

Im at day 80. My map has 1 archery town. Seen only 3 hunters and none had any start at ranged attack. Even if they had 1star I would have bought it. Also, iratus is pretty good. Not sure why I dont have any icons.
Fire n hire as in clear slots for potential hunters to spawn in 3 days. Swamps and steppes can also spawn them, some forests too but those settlements are rare in my experience.
Turtle beat me to it in posting the spreadsheet for character backgrounds, it's something that will help you understand what hires you will want to hire from.

Thanks, well I blame the tutorial for that. When I looked at other people playing or checked few things on forums it was as if.. lategame crysis is at day 100 or so. So what is lategame day?

Its as if I need to rush to buy hunters if I want to have them, because I dont want to play the game without them and get them at the very endgame. Its bad that the so called "tutorial" never explained how to have or not have expectations - what lenght is this game.. 200days? whats the number?

There would be no rush feeling if I knew. Its a joke they wrote "tutorial" as there is nothing explained there in the first place. All I got on my own is an idea that I should have a fully made party at day 50 or day 70 because crysis starts at around day 100 or earlier..

So that... I have no doubt many people feel the same, hence the seed generators!

Defining the pace is somewhat important.

And as of right now I am still thinking, maybe I should restart the game, why continue in such late game without a single hunter. I already have 2 heavy crossbows, hedge knight, a cripple with 3star 70attack(it was 55attack at lvl1) and many other level 6 bros. And im at day 80.

Why do you feel like you need a Hunter? They provide no unique perks, no special traits, nothing that makes them critical to game play - why exactly do you need a hunter?

Archers are next to useless at the Black Monolith or vs the Kraken.

The Devs vision for the game back in Early Access was for a campaign to last through the first crisis, that was it. Stronger locations were added only after extensive lobbying by players, but that was just the icing - the "cake" was the first 120 days or so.

A player could play forever if they wanted, the crisis' continue to cycle - the only way to really lose would be to enable permanent destruction and to lose all the cities.

Have fun, you don't need Hedge Knights, Hunters, or any special recruits. This game allows folks to play however they want for as long as they want, no game tutorial can show you that.

You had three totally fine hunters and you threw them away. A minimum-rolled hunter has 53 ranged attack, which is going to average 83 at level 11, or 87 with gifted. That is absolutely enough for an endgame-level character. It's enough to snipe out marksmen and arbalesters, it's enough to drop berserkers and unholds from a safe distance, and it's definitely enough to wang javelins into a chosen from two squares away.

Because Im new player and I already tried bows for a bit. Decided to try crossbows and I will maybe leave throwing weapons for some other time. Also I tested crossbows last playthrough and it felt good. Didnt finished the game, savegame was like day 60 or so..

Also, do you lose or can play the game if you wipe out 2factions so 1 remaining faction.. with permanent destruction? Havent tried it of course but it sounds pretty cool once I get better at it.
Each faction's capital cannot be lost so worst case scenario is every town being destroyed except for the 3 capitals.

Does the area around the destroyed settlements get overrun by bandit camps and such? From what I remember those kind of stuff don't spawn too close to settlements. Would love to play a run where there are only 3 citadels left and everything else is overrun by bandits, greenskins, wild beasts and undead.

Nice! Did'nt think to try that.
This is another good spreadsheet on starting stats for backgrounds, I find the layout easier and has several character build templates

Not sure about destroyed but I had already mission where village property was turned to bandit lair so i ahd to drive off banditws and than lead caravan on place that rebuilt it.

For the most part yes it is random, but there are a few restrictions on a few backgrounds.
