Then it is a race to get the Lindwurms down fast so their attacks against the shield bros don't get through the shield. Extra shields are advisable when you use normal heater shields.
You do not need any specific armor or weapon. Just one handed one to maximize amount of attacks.
Lindwurm will just miss everything and eventually die.
They have very high HP pools.
As others have said. Aside from overwhelm, it's not so much having high armor so much as high melee defense. Even very good armor can't take many of their hits. So the tank should be shieldwalling unless he already has a 5% chance of getting hit without shieldwall, which is more likely for dodge tanks or if your other bros are using overwhelm. Even a good tank can't tank more than about 2 at once for long though. The 5% hit chance is happening twice per lindwurm per turn. If you multiply a 95% chance of something not happening over and over again the odds of it happening quickly becomes likely.
Other bros want to stay out of range, though even fragile guys can take a hit without much consequence given the lindwurm attacks have no armor penetration last I checked a week or two ago. Attacks from directly adjacent will spray acid and degrade armor. The head has 2 range, so a polearm specialist can do a sort of hit and run attack each turn. The goblin pikes can be used by others to stay out of harm's way. Also, you can focus on hitting the tail, which has an aoe but only a range of 1. I tend to have all damage dealers focus on one, but sometimes I'll have one of them with a polehammer depleting armor for the next one to be focused down by the others.
The rest of the team attacks the tail with reach weapons.
Gunners work great too. They can hit both body parts with one shot.
A lot of overwhelming, tanks and polearms are needed.
still is a hell of a battle, and better look for a 3 way battle (maybe chosen or orcs)
Overwhelm debuffs the matk and ratk skill by 5% for every attack that you direct against the target, hit or miss, that activates after the current bro of yours. The effect stacks.
With your lineup, you should have no problem to kill packs of up to five Lindwurms. Use 6 of your bros with shields, the rest with reach weapons / ranged. The one shieldbro not engaging the Lindwurms should ideally have rotate so you will be able to rotate in if one of the other tanking bros gets chomped too often. Note that the shield wielding bros do not need to be skilled as tanks. They only need a shield (heater or other mdef buffing shield preferable) and a mdef of around 30 (which lvl 14 bros should theoretically all have, more is better). Focus one or two Lindwurms at once. I prefer to only attack the tail because then you do not need to plow through the head armour of the drake.
I must say that I was very satisfied from the result. Even with armor eaten by acid my brothers were still fine fighting lindwurm. I had no tanks, heavy armors or 2 handed weapons.
Surround bonus has nothing to do with overwhelm. You need bros that act before the enemy does to use the effect. Usually that's achieved with high initiative and light armor, but you could also use adrenaline on a heavy in theory.
boss battles in this game straight up ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
It's quite easy to push their hitchance down to 5% with a good shield tank (around 60 mdef with shield) and shieldwall up. And that's without overwhelm.
Very late in the game lindwurms get a significant buff in damage and attack skill (+10) and at least the tanks I build are not able to reach 5% odds anymore without using overwhelm. (As that would require melee defense of 115. "Easy" they said.) If you apply overwhelm please remember to overwhelm both parts of the wurm.
