Keeping track of units potential build?
How do you keep track of which units will become a specific role. For example I have some units that I want to groom for polearms but I tend to forget which ones and need to look through each units stats.

You can change their name, you know. Click the name at the roster screen.

I use the title name for their role (but staying on the RP side), like:

- "The assassin" for dagger/nimble builds
- "The headsmasher" for fatigue neutral 2h mace builds
- "The mansplitter" for 2H axe builds
- "The defender" for tanks
- "The fencer" for nimble fencing-sword builds
- "The spartan" for throwing + shield (+ 1h weapon if hybrid)

etc....

- "The useless" for first grade cannon-fodder (makes some good entries in the obituary)
- empty title for second grade fodder or just "normal average" dudes which I haven't decided yet if they're going to be fodder or basic frontliner because of lucky rolls. Most of them get replaced later by better backgrounds or die to protect a better recruit. Some may survive and become a mascot. I had one once with 4 permanent injuries.

just be creative ;)

BTW: I never understood the numbers in the bro's title. I guess it's some potential values. maybe someone can enlight me ?

Funny you said that because in my cultist run I give them numbers corresponding to levels of their "enlightenment" so I don't sacrifice wrong cultist also all non cultist are named "Lamb"

All bros get stars corresponding to their potential not level.

I can only explain how I use these numbers. Other peoples will use different approaches.

I use two sets of numbers. First one is given all early game recruits at level 1 and determine how good bro is. Bad numbers mean bro will go FA/gifted/backstabber/dismiss way. Good numbers mean he may be given build later if he'll roll good stats on lvl ups. I do not use lvl 1 numbers later because I only recruit good bros with stars in appropriate stats so I can calculate approximate lvl 11 number immediately and see if bro is worthy.

Second number is given at lvl 11 and means final power of bro(first numbers are deleted at lvl 11). Bro with the same build and better numbers is obviously more valuable, will get better equipment and will not be dismissed (at least soon).

Different builds have their own numbers. I'll explain numbers using the most common build of my parties: dagger bro.

Default lvl 1 bro is 60 HP, 100 FAT, 40 RES, 55 MSKILL, 5 MDEF. This is base for my numbers. First number is difference between sum of non-combat stats of your bro and default one. I.e. you sum bro's HP, FAT and RES and distract 200 from that value(in real world you sum differences of course). Some garbage and combat backgrounds may produce negative values here while wildman with good traits may roll more than 50. Second number is mskill + mdef - 60 (of generic bro). Mskill = mdef for dagger bro but for warscythe(for example) mskill is way more important and other numbers will be used there.

Good lvl 11 dagger bro should have 80+ HP, 120+ FAT, 60+ RES, 90(85)+ mskill and 30(35)+ mdef. That's 60/60 at lvl 11 and at least 20/0 at lvl 1. So at lvl 1 you already can see if a bro will be OK dagger user or not. Of course you bro may have more fatigue and less HP for example. That's not a problem because you may fix him with veteran levels. You'll get several before day 100 and may put 1 point/level in the worst noncombat stat. Also you may patch resolve with arena and trinkets.

You may also use these numbers to compare bros from different campaigns. As you can see only one dagger bro is good and no one managed to reach 80 HP.

OK...I see....I guess.

I can see the use now, especially in larger rosters like peasant militia. I currently play lonewolf, so with the reduced roster I know all of my bros at heart (and thus have no use of those numbers...but I'll try it to see if it fits me).

thanks !

I often go with "the Unmourned," lol :steammocking:

I use a bit of a mix. So I might just add a note after the name...like "bob nim ow" For name; nimble; overwhelm if that's what I plan for him. But I also go old school and keep a notebook and pencil on my desk for anything more involved.

Just use this: https://tumult.cc/bb-calc.html?1-8&3-4&4-8&5-2&6-1&1-3&5-5&2-3&6-3&1-7

Save a build under each bros name - can't go wrong.
