crusader
During the undead crises I had a crusader encounter party and he joined to fight the undead. After the crises he leaves and gives me his equipment, which was nice...a greatsword, 300 dur helmet and okay armor. Is that a set encounter or was I just lucky with a random event?

he doesn't always show up but its scripted to happen. There is also a orc slayer you get during the orc crisis and I believe a special background you can get during the holy war.

The Crusader leaves at the end and you get to keep his equipment.

I take the crusader's equipment and fire him immediately after the event. No need for him to gain valuable experience that is better used by other brothers. I play long games over multiple crisis and he is not ling term.

You were lucky. I've seen one orc slayer in 600 hours. Never encountered a crusader (or a King's Guard or belly dancer, for that matter).

The only crusader I did not meet is the one who joins you in Holy War. Does he leave you too?

I've met the belly dancer, but I couldn't compel them to join me. i did rescue a guy being hung for mugging melons and another that was being burned... Both are interesting characters with unique speech dialogue I think.

I don't know. He was 9th level and I got to level him up. He was awesome, something like 18 kills in 4 battles. Maybe that isn't impressive to others, but to me it was. I was sorry to see him go.

Under very specific circumstance, it's possible to keep the guy. He need to be brain damaged and then converted by a cultist.
